At first (Y/n) didn't need much help, she could still do most things on her own.
But eventually there began to be things she couldn't do alone.
Because she was so short of breath getting groceries by herself she asked Dazai to accompany her.
He didn't really have a problem with that, especially since she worked around his schedule when asking.
One day she was so exhausted and tense that she asked him to massage her shoulders, catching him off guard.
It was still off putting seeing her so vulnerable.

Dazai could feel his heart race with anger when he found her crying and ranting about what happened.
(Y/n) tries to be strong for everyone else but just under the surface she is crumbling, and he knows it.
Which is why he feels more obligated to help her.
Once in a while they can joke and still shit talk each other though.
Her fire hasn't gone out completely.
Even at 39 weeks and wobbling around she can still be snarky and sarcastic.
Unfortunately at 41 weeks she went straight to depression.
The baby was overdue and she was starting to freak out.
Dazai put his foot down though and took her in to get checked out.
The doctor said it was fine to go up to 2 weeks over but dangerous for their health after that.

(Y/n) looks at Dazai as the doctor cleans up her stomach.
"If you want we can induce you here and now if you're really that worried." The doctor offers.
The mother-to-be is about to speak but the agent gets there first.
"No that won't be necessary. We're doing an at home birth. And before you say anything, we know the risks."
The doctor nods in understanding. "I see. You can let yourselves out when you're ready. Good luck."
(Y/n) slowly stands up and they go back to her apartment.

"When are you free next?"
Dazai looks at (Y/n) confused. "Thursday, why?"
"Because I need you there. I can't do this with just Mori. I know I'll just be freaking out the whole time. At least if you're there I might be able to get through it."
The agent frowns.
Tears stream down her cheeks and she clenches her fists.
"What happened to hating my guts? You call me traitor then ask me to be there when you deliver."
"I still hate you for what you did. But I'm terrified Osa. I could die. When this is all over you'll go back to trying to kill me and if I survive this I'll have to protect my child too. I have no one on my side anymore, the Mafia members all turned their backs on me when they found out. Mori is the only one who kind of cares."
Dazai clenches his own fists.

(Y/n) wipes her face with her sleeve but blows her nose. "This is my last selfish request Osa. Please help me see this through."
The brunette turns his back to her. "Don't count on it." He leaves the apartment without another word.
Tears once again fall down her face.
She calls Mori to let him know she wanted to induce Wednesday.
"Are you ok?" He asks, noticing her shaky voice.
"If I don't die on the table I'm leaving the Mafia."
The boss's eyes widen but he smiles. "I understand. Where will you go?"
"I don't know, anywhere but here."

Come Wednesday the woman sleeps during the day but that night Mori helps her onto the bed and begins.
"I'll have Higuchi bring you water and something to eat later. I have some things I need to take care of before you've dilated. If it gets to be too much just call."
(Y/n) sniffles but nods.
Come Thursday Dazai still hadn't shown up.
Going on 23 hours (Y/n) was nearly there.
She tries to steady her breathing but the contractions are unbearable and she can only cry.
Higuchi stopped coming and Mori told her he'd be there in half an hour to check again.

Dazai sits at his desk, leg bouncing as his mind races.
The years play out in his mind of their time together.
At first they were friendly, unlike him and Chuuya who have always been on rival terms, but then they started butting heads. Their friendship turned sour and went full blow hatred.
Of course when he left it only fueled her rage.
Over these last few months they seemed to be on better terms.
He wouldn't admit it out loud but he liked that she needed him.
Except his heart wouldn't let him get close to her.
He had no intention of being there for the delivery.
Sadly the same fact keeps popping up: she didn't ask for this and the bastard who did this is out there somewhere.
The expression she makes when she's crying makes his heart clench and right now he knows her face is contorted in pain.
Finally something snaps.

Dazai rushes to the Mafia base and down to where (Y/n) is.
Her scream can be heard down the hall.
Dazai runs faster and bursts into the room.
(Y/n) looks over quickly. "Osa," she whispers.
Mori smirks and looks at (Y/n). "Keep pushing darling."
The agent walks over quickly and holds her hand.
Her expression is exactly how he pictured it.
She squeezes his hand tightly and pushes.
Dazai groans quietly but whispers words of encouragement in her ear.

Cries fill the air as relief washes over her body.
Dazai helps clean up while Mori takes the baby's measurements.
(Y/n) pants heavily as her vision is spotty.
"You have a...(Y/n)?" Dazai calls and walks over to her side.
Mori puts the baby on her chest to give her something to focus on.
The mother looks down at the baby and manages a smile. "My...baby." She whispers, holding it weakly.
Unfortunately her hand falls and she blacks out.
Dazai's eyes widen and he holds the baby.
