Dazai's Birthday

(Y/n) laughs happily as she spins in the rain.
Everything is in slow motion for Dazai though.
The rain droplets, the people passing by and (Y/n) as well.
Her laughter is music to his ears.
So full of happiness and light, a total contrast to himself.
He watches her and smiles softly.
"Happy birthday to you~" she sings.
Dazai puts his hands in his pockets as they walk.
"Happy birthday to you~"
The people passing by look from under their umbrellas confused.
"Happy birthday dear Osa- happy birthday to you~"

Dazai watches (Y/n) take his hand then kiss him.
Her lips are soft and slip against his due to the rain.
He holds her waist while her hands frame his face.
Slowly they pull away and smile.
"I wish today could go on forever and ever." (Y/n) pulls away and spreads her arms, once again spinning in circles.
Me too, he thinks to himself.
"Little mystery we should get out of the rain."
"Oh good idea. The Ferris wheel is still going. Let's get to the top and look out over the city." (Y/n) grabs his hand and they run to the large wheel.
Dazai's heart races at her touch.
Even through the darkness her rays of sunshine brighten his world.

Once they reach the Ferris wheel and get on, (Y/n) hums softly as her legs kick and she looks out each side.
Dazai didn't care about the view outside, the only thing he looks at is her.
Her future was worth protecting.
Slowly he stands and puts his hand on the glass.
A hand grabs his quickly and squeezes.
The water flowing down her cheeks is no longer from the clouds.
"Please don't leave me. Let me be selfish this one time. Stay by my side. Don't let go."
His heart clenches but he turns away.
"I haven't shown you enough. I can do better. I want you to see the light of this world."
"You are the light of this world little mystery. Sometimes I can't look at you because you're too bright."

(Y/n) stands and tugs on his arm gently.
Dazai leans his back against the glass. He holds her waist and pulls her in for another kiss.
Her hands rest on his chest, gripping his vest tightly.
"You've given me the best birthday I could've asked for. You've given me the best years of my life. I love you (Y/n). Never forget that."
"Osa please~You have so much to do still, you can't die."
"I had everything I needed. Friends, a job and the love of my life. For as dark as everything is I can leave peacefully."
"I need you."
"You have people to help you and you may find love again."

"Then let me come with you."
"I couldn't let you do that. You have too much left to do to end it now. You're not allowed to leave this world yet."
"Then neither are you. If I can't leave this wretched world then you have to stay too."
"Little mystery, the only birthday present I want is for you to be the last thing I see. I am content. Please let me go."
(Y/n) shakes her head but looks up quickly when he opens the door.
The wind blows and the rain hits them.
The Ferris wheel stops at the top and the operator calls up to them.
"Please close the door and remain seated."
The couple doesn't do as instructed.

"Then let me be the last thing you see." (Y/n) whispers, grabs his jacket and pushes them both out.
His eyes widen and he holds her close. "Little mystery what are-"
"I love you Osa. Happy birthday."
Happy tears stream down her cheeks now.
His own tears blur his vision but he kisses her.
"I love you, my little mystery." He whispers against her lips as they crash into the water.
