"Small" Nap

Dazai types away at his laptop on the couch.
(Y/n) let him be for a while but it was starting to get late.
The agent was focused enough to not even sense their presence until they sat down. "Hey little mystery."
"Having fun?"
"Ah yes, so much fun." He replies sarcastically but they both smile.
"Are you coming to bed soon?"
"After I finish this yeah."
"Ok, I'll stay awake with you then."
Although, he chuckles quietly when they yawn after.
"You don't have to little mystery. You can go on without me."
"Nah I'll be fine." They whisper and look at his screen.

Dazai kisses their cheek then goes back to work.
It doesn't take long for their eyes to droop and eventually their head falls into his shoulder.
"You almost made it." He whispers and sets his laptop down. "Let's get you to bed."
(Y/n) mumbles quietly in their sleep as he picks them up and carries them to bed.
Dazai lays them down but (Y/n) grabs his hand. "Stay with me, just for a bit."
"Ok, just a small nap then. But I gotta get back to work after ok?"
"Ok." They mumble, still half asleep.
Dazai lays with his partner and holds them close. "Good night." He whispers and kisses their cheek.
(Y/n) buries their face in his chest, arm around his waist.

When (Y/n) wakes up their look around and their hair is a mess.
Dazai groans and rubs his eyes. He chuckles quietly looking at the rat's nest on their head.
"What time is it?" (Y/n) grumbles and rubs their eyes.
"I don't know. It's still dark outside." The agent whispers then feels around for his phone.
The screen reads 7:22 am.
"It's morning. Damn." He mumbles the last part.
(Y/n) frowns and looks away. "I'm sorry. I should have set an alarm."
The brunette frowns and looks at his partner. "Don't be sorry. I should have set the alarm. Or worked faster."

(Y/n) lays on their side, curling up.
Dazai lays back down and holds them close. "I'm glad I got to sleep with you last night. I feel better now that I've had a full eight hours of sleep."
They smile and kiss him gently. "I love you."
"I love you too little mystery. I'm gonna go make breakfast and finish my work. What do you want to eat?"
(Y/n) holds his hand. "Do you have to go back so soon? Can't you rest here a bit longer?"
Dazai frowns and thinks about his answer.
The partner lays on their other side, back to him.
He holds them close and kisses their neck. "Just a little bit long."
Cuddles and kisses ensue.

After a while Dazai finally sits up and stretches. "Ok little mystery I need to get this work done. If I don't Kunikida might actually ring my neck."
(Y/n) laughs softly. "Ok fine. We can get up and be productive."
Dazai laughs and stands from the bed. He holds his hand out to them and helps them off the bed.
"Thank you." They whisper and stretch.
"You do your work and I'll make breakfast. Although it might be lunch by the time we get to the kitchen." They joke and the couple chuckles.

(Y/n) began to ask for naps once in a while, especially when they saw their boyfriend was overworking himself.
Of course the "short nap" always turns into full blown eight hour nights.
Dazai didn't catch on at first because he felt too guilty when he saw their puppy dog eyes.
While sometimes they were sad when he tried to decline, other times it's just a way to get Dazai to sleep.
When he finally caught on he wanted to scold them but he couldn't bring himself to. He knew they just wanted the best for him.
So he keeps his mouth shut and does as requested.

Eventually (Y/n) realizes that Dazai knew but pretends not to know.
The couple gets into a pattern and they only benefit from the arrangement.
Dazai could get his work done faster and more efficiently, not only surprising Kunikida but making him grateful to (Y/n).
The said partner also got more cuddles and better rest knowing their boyfriend was holding them close.
Finally Dazai caved and started doing it on his own, sometimes pulling his partner to bed.
(Y/n) was grateful for their first "nap" paving the way for their new, healthier relationship.
