What happens when the lines to right and wrong blur? When promises have to be broke...

"Miss Maliah." Someone says, shouting over the crowd of flashing lights and people taking photos.
I walk into the building and security stops the press and bystanders from following me in.
Niko and I get escorted to a room back stage and I'm told that I'll be called upon when it's time to go on stage.
I pace back and forth, nerves creeping up on me.
Niko, who is sitting down on the unnecessarily large sofa, stands up and starts walking beside me.
"What are you doing?" I ask, stopping my pacing and looking at him in confusion.
He shrugs. "I thought you could use some company and I figured it would get you to stop long enough for me to talk to you." He admits. "You are going to do great out there, Blue. This isn't the first time you've done an interview and I'm pretty sure it won't be your last."
"But this is different. There's so much more on the line." In the homestrech of the election, popularity and publicity is everything, that's why I agreed to this interview type thing. I have to show I'm the better candidate, even if that means coming face to face with Morana to do so.
Niko gently takes my hands in his. "Yes, this is important. But seriously? This is against Morana. You have this in the bag. More to lose also means more to gain."
"I know but I'm fucking scared."
"And that's normal given the circumstances but I believe in you, I know you believe in yourself and I'm certain there are a lot of people out there that believe in you too. The world is a better place with you in it Maliah Asteria." He says, placing a soft kiss on my forehead before I pull him in to kiss my lips.
The two of us cosy up on the sofa and I try to settle my nerves.
Normally I'd be rushing from hair and makeup to a wardrobe change by now but I opted out of all that. I wanted to just be my authentic self. I did dress up a little for the occasion but that's about it.
There's a knock on the door before somebody sticks their head in. "Five minutes until the live show starts. Make your way to the stage."
Fuck. Ella, Ruelle and Zayden still aren't here. Niko squeezes my hand in reassurance as we walk to where the stage is.
I stand backstage until my name is announced as I was instructed.
As I walk out onto the big stage, I see a massive crowd of people in attendance. I can't see any of their faces from the way the light is shining at me but I realise that I've done a live interview before, quite a few times actually, but never in front of an actual in person audience.
Morana and I meet eyes as we walk to our designated podiums. Her face is the type of sickly sweet that makes my insides churn. You can only see the venom hidden behind her eyes if you're looking for it. She's trying to intimidate me because she thinks I'm a meek, quiet little girl. Just because I choose to be good doesn't mean I have to be, that in itself is power. Anyone who really knows me knows that I don't back down. I'm a force to be reconed with. Maybe some of my power comes from being underestimated because the greatest threat is the one you don't see coming until it's too late.
