"Destiny Morrison?" I ask the woman standing in front of me.
She looks suspiciously between Niko and I.
She quickly tries to shut the door to her apartment but Niko is quick to react. He stops her movement with his hand and uses his foot to stop the door from closing.
"We're not here to cause trouble." I assure her.
"I'm basically the mistress to the man you're marrying." She says with fear and tears in her eyes.
"Nikolai, did you cheat on me with Destiny?" I ask, looking to him.
"No." He responds.
I turn back to Destiny and notice that she's taken a few steps back. "It seems as though we are good then." I say with a smile.
"Are you implying that you're planning on marrying me?" Niko asks even though he knows damn well that I'm utterly in love with him.
"Well, I'm certainly not marrying William."
"Or Liam." He adds.
Honestly, I forgot Liam even existed. That shows how much the guy means to me. I hate that he lied and cheated on me, but after seeing the bigger picture, I'm glad of it. If he hadn't shown me his true colours, I never would've known what true love feels like.
Don't get me wrong, Liam is a dick but maybe everything does happen for a reason.
"Why are you here? What do you want from me?"
"We spoke to your mother-"
"You did?" She asks with a hopeful look in her eyes. "Is she ok?" She pauses before her voice takes on a dangerous tone. "If you've hurt her-"
"We didn't." I interject. "Your mother is fine and living in Lavenem. She helped me find you." I tell her. "If I don't marry William, there's going to be a war. None of us want that but I also don't think it's fair to be forced into a position where you have a choice to either marry someone and spend the rest of your life unhappy or be the cause of war. Your mother told me you love William. Is that still true?"
She hesitates before answering. "Yes." She says quietly.
"Are you just his mistress, or did it mean more to you than that?"
"Are you two together?" She asks, referring to me and Niko.
Niko wraps an arm around my shoulder. "We sure are."
"Fine. I'll tell you what you want to know. William and I were so much more to each other than anyone ever knew about. He'd sneak me into the castle and we'd stay up late watching tv. He was cruel to a lot of people but he had a soft spot for me. I didn't know that his parents had found out until I was confronted and sentenced here."
"Did William know you were sent away?"
She shakes her head. "Not at the time, no. I don't know what his parents told him because before I knew what was happening, I was gone. They'll have probably tried to make me into the villain. I didn't even get to say goodbye."
