CLARITY

If I could go back and tell my six year old self that we are involved with elves I would so slap myself. But me an elf I would kill myself on that spot. How can I be an elf but not have pointy ears. I don't even know anything about being an elf at all, all because I have this stupid birth mark on my wrist saying: I have the elf mark.

"There is a spare room you can stay in, I'll have Orianna come and help you get ready for dinner" Glassandra told me as we started to walk down the halls. I swear I will get lost down these halls where each direction leads to.

"Right, dinner" I said nodding to myself.

I never been in a hall crowded with people, it's like a ball dance where everyone wants to dance with the pretty girl in the room. I never fit in with that part. I bite my bottom lip as we walk in silence down the castle halls, it's like Glassandra knows this place in back of her hands but of course she knows. She is the queen.

"It's alright everyone mostly will focus on their friends and the food and of course me. You don't have to worry about it" Glassandra said stopping outside a door.

"And if my brother bothers you too much you can send him to me" Glassandra said with a smile.

"I think I can handle him myself but thanks for the advice" I said with a slight smile on my face. At least I have someone that has my back.

"See you in an hour" As Glassandra walked away from me I open my now bedroom or what they call it chambers room I walked in.

It was everything I could dream off, a big four post bed with clean white sheets on, a small table in the corner, a bookshelf with a thousand of books, a bath on the other side of the room, a wardrobe that I can imagine with loads of dresses, and a balcony to look out and see this beautiful place I have been brought to by force.

As I was too busy in awe about my new chambers, I was stutter when I heard a knock on my chambers doors. As I walk to the door and open it, I see a dark black hair elf girl with a half smile half grin and a half annoyed look on her face. She had pale skin with forest green eyes and little freckles on her cheeks and nose.

"You must be the reader" She said walking into my chambers as I close the door behind.

"Um hello to you too, and I don't think I am a reader" I said but it was more of a question to myself.

"You're an elf?" She asked staring at me.

"I don't know but I have this birth mark Glassandra said" I said looking down at my wrist.

"A lost elf then huh?" She said. But I am still not sure if I am or if I am not.

"Orianna Wintersong by the way" Orianna interduce herself to me with her hand out to shake mine.

"Clarity. Riverwood" I said shaking her.

"You and Hespeta will get on well. She will want to be your friend before you can speak. Want to be friends cause I know Hespeta will beg me to be your friend?" She said more then asked me.

"Sure" I said moving the piece of my fallen hair out of my eyes.

Orianna then walked to my wardrobe and open it to get a dress out for me to wear.

"Now where have you been hiding all your life?" Orianna asked me while searching for a dress for me to wear.

"I have not been hiding" I said. I don't even know if I was even lying to myself or to Orianna.

"Then why have we not found you til now?" Orianna asked.

"I don't know maybe I've been hunting at the wrong place the wrong time" I said. I am not even sure if my answer was true or not, but it felt right to say.

"Or it could have been destiny brought you here. Now I sound like Hespeta, I need to stop hanging out too much with her" Orianna said starting to talk to herself. I raise an eyebrow.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah, soon your ears will grow might hurt and bleed like some but some of us are a slow growers. I did not get mine til I was five" Orianna said.

She then brought out a long purple lavender dress that is sleeveless and is v neck but cut to open a gap near my boobs.

"This is the perfect fit" Orianna said. I was not really sure but I when along with it.

Orianna helped me change and did my hair, we small talked together to get to know each other, I notice Orianna is not a big on talking more of a listener, she seems to talk when she has something to stay, but it seems like Orianna, has a good fashion sent.

"Clarity, you look good but more like a village girl good come to visit" Orianna said looking me up and down, I bite my lip trying to hold my tongue. I look at my reflection in the fall length mirror.

I never thought I would see myself in a dress since my mother went missing. Every time I even wear a dress it brings back to the memory I beg to block out or even forget.

"You think I'm one of you?" I asked looking at Orianna in the mirror.

"Maybe, even if you don't know it, Hespeta will know you are one of us. She and Glassandra will feel it in the bones" Orianna said staring me down that I feel she wants to give me a cold look. Most of the girls hate me and think of me so differently than anyone else in my village.

"That's sweet" I said.

"Don't get too hearted it can change your whole life around here and dress like a lady" Orianna said.

"Back in my village I was more of the freak in my village" I explain wanting to forget those words.

"Are you trying to give me a pet talk over your sob story, cause I don't want to hear it" Orianna said turning her back away from me where I face her.

"Come, dinner is going to start" Orianna said. She took my arm gently and guide us to leave my chambers room, we linked arms down the hall. But as we walked something clicked in me. If I have been called a freak could that mean I'm really one of them.
