Chapter Thirty Nine

CLARITY

As we got back to Mireworth Fortess, through the magical gates that hides us from the human world it felt different. Not like the normal different you would even feel. I had to wrap my arms around myself warming myself up. It feels cold and it's not normally cold the last time I came here.

"Hey, you guys are back" I heard Valerian voice call out.

"Clarity my girl!" I felt Valerian strong arms lift me in the air spinning me around while hugging me. I chuckle at his behaviour, but I did miss Valerian it was not right when he was not there with his bad jokes to tell.

"Yeah, we're back. And I'm alive" I said once Valerian put me down.

"Miss you shortie" I rolled my eyes at Valerian calling me that while he had a cheeky smirk on his face.

"Ugh hm" Hespeta cough, we turn to her seeing her raise a brow waiting.

"You forgotten something? Us?" Hespeta asked. I shake my head while moving to the side.

"My bad Hes. My only provided was if Clarity come back alive" Valerian answer. I smiled up to the big tough male by my side.

"Where is Glassandra?" I asked. I need to see and speak to her straight away. We all do, but this might be about me that they all worry about.

I still can't get my head around what happened in the woods. The demon king wants me but who is the demon king?
"The throne room" Valerian pointed out.

I started to walk to where the throne room is. Walking fast then ever while I hear boots running to catch up with me.

I push open the double doors where I see Glassandra sitting on her throne talking to a knight. As soon as she saw me her lips part open, and I can see in her eyes she was please I'm alive.

Glassandra got up from her throne and run down the stairs I start to run over the long hall to reach her as we reach each other we pulled each other in our arms not caring if we are crushing our bones. Relief that we are reunited again.

"I knew you would make it" Glassandra whisper in my hair. I did not notice but felt a few tears drip from my eye staining my face. I don't care. I got to see Glassandra again. The one person who has hope for me.

"I'm proud that you survive" Glassandra put her hands on my cheeks looking at me in the eyes. Her pink lips reach a smile on her face I could not help but smile back.

"A few bumps and scratches on the way but I made it" I said making us both laugh.

Someone then clear there throat making both of us turn. Xavier had a serious face on wanting to get right to business in what happened in the woods.

"We need to talk. We were attacked on the way back here" Xavier explain briefly.

Glassandra's lips part open a little but then close. She then lead us all even Orianna and Valerian into the court chambers to disgust this matter what happened.

We all stand around the table looking at each other, hands on the big round table.

"What happened?" Glassandra asked looking at her brother.

"Demon elves" He answer straight.

"Three of them" Hespeta said.

"We slatter them all one by one" Eldric finish off.

"They were after me. One told me that the demon king wants me?" I said but also question myself. Glassandra gasp as her eyes grew big.

"Is he really alive? I through we killed him?" Orianna question with a huff as she crossed her arms.

"We didn't kill him Orianna. It was my father who killed him" Glassandra explain then she look back at Xavier.

"Our father" She finished.

I shake my head with a long sigh leave my lips.

"I'm still confused. Who is the demon king?" I asked looking at all the faces in the room.

Who is he? What does he want from me? How does he know about me?

"It has been a decade since we heard off him" Glassandra started off.

"His the one that created those monster demon elves. They were normal like us, but he turned them" Glassandra said.

"Some say don't make a deal with the devil cause he is the devil. He wants power and rule the world, destroy want we have" Hespeta explain to me.

"He is a legend, but he has run in hiding they only come out when they want to" Valerian explain.

"He will kill at anything or anyone that gets in his way. And the demon elves one bite from their teeth and the venom will spread into your veins and kill you" Orianna explain.

"Okay but what does he want from me?" I asked looking right at Glassandra.

"They know about Clarity existence, sister" Xavier said. Hold on.

"Wait if they know I exist then they might find my mother" I said.

They can't find or take her even when I am looking for her myself.

"Clarity, they might have her already" Hespeta started.

"Do you know that? Do you have any proof?" I asked glaring at her which made her quiet.

"You might be right; they could find your mother and know who you are, but you are safe here" Glassandra said trying to put a comfortable smile on.

"For now," I said.

Xavier looked at me for a second before turning to speak to Glassandra.

"Will they come here to get her?" Xavier asked.

"They'll have to get through the magical gates first but while Clarity stays here, she's safe" Glassandra said as they both turn to look right at me.

"Okay forget about the demon elves thing. What about finding my mother? Have you got a lead?" I asked leaning forward on the table.

"We might have. There is a cottage one of the elves found and it looks like it's been use. No one has checked it out yet" Glassandra explain. She could have been in there. My mother had a thing with wanting to live in a small cozy cottage she loves them.

"Perfect. Check it out straight in the morning. I want Orianna and Valerian with me" I said starting to walk away.

"Wait!" Xavier said. I stop walking with a huff but keep my back towards them.

"It's too soon, not when we just been attacked today" Xavier said. I turn back around and march over to the table slamming my hands on the table.

"What do you expect me to do sit around and wait? My mother is still missing, and you want me gone as much as I want to leave" I asked glaring straight at Xavier who glare back.

"It's too soon we don't know if the demon king will send more of his demon elves to find Clarity with her scent around" Xavier explain.

"For once I agree with blondie here" Orianna said with a smirk written on her face.

"So how long do we wait?" I asked.

"Until the next moon. In the meantime, train, rest, do you things" Glassandra said looking at us all.

"Oh, and we are going to have a victory ball for Clarity in six days time" Glassandra said clapping her hands together.

"Hell yes!" Valerian fist pump the air jumping up with so much energy pumping in his veins.

I nodded up at Glassandra looking at her until I turn my gaze to Xavier, my eyes darken and glare at him.

"This better work. If not, I'll kill you if she is dead" I said then walked away to go to my chambers.

I do not joke when it comes to my mother, if I even find out all this time that she is dead then Xavier will better run. My mother is the only one I learn to love. I'm willing to kill for her.
