CLARITY

Birds singing in the bright dawn that has awoken up reminds me on how my mother would sing to me to sleep and how she would dance around the kitchen in the early morning to make breakfast for the both of us as I watch her move around with my little giggles and my mother's smile over her shoulder when she looks at me with her blue eyes. Her song still stuck in my head on this day on and it is as I can still hear her voice singing through my head.

About this time at dawn, I would be wondering the forest with my bow going to hunt down animals to eat, but now this is a different kind of hunting. Starting with going hunting for preys to begin with to now going to hunt for answers and to know the truth about myself and my mother.

"Is it true what Valerian said?" I asked Eldric as we walk side by side on the forest grass a couple of miles away from Mireworth Fortess and into the forest. The fresh grass hits my nose and the breeze that past not just me but the trees along.

"What about earlier?" Eldric asked me. It is about earlier of what Valerian said still makes me think if those were false words what I have heard. Xavier can't like a women like me that spends her whole life in the woods, he is so cocky and rude towards me that he can't even like any bit of me, and I hate him with every pulse in my body that I would rather die than to see his cocky face.

"Honestly, I don't know. Valerian he can be a tease at time, but I do not see it when Valerian said. We are all brothers, but Valerian has known Xavier and Glass the longest" My head turn quickly towards Eldric and wonder what those words mean that has confuse me. Has Valerian grew up with Glassandra and Xavier.

"Wait. Did all of you grew up together?" I asked. Not knowing if they all met in Mireworth Fortess but did they have their own home.

"I did not meet them until I was twelve years old. I was raised by my aunt and uncle I never knew my parents. Valerian, he grew up with them the longest. He may look twenty years, but he is not and Xavier he maybe seventeen in looks but physically he is a hundred and eighteen" Eldric told me. So, Valerian is the oldest out of us.

"And how old is Glassandra?" I asked eyes narrow to the grass.

"Look twenty but really is a hundred and twenty" Eldric explained to me.

"How long can elves live for?" I asked my eye brows narrow curious on the questions I am asking but I want to know more about this kind as much if I'm not one of them.

"Valerian is three hundred and sixty five he stop aging at twenty some of us stop at eighteen or nineteen; we can live for decades if we must, but we can also be killed" Eldric explain to me, my lips part open.

"I'm sorry I asked" I started feeling bad of asking someone that might not want to talk about these kind of things.

"I just-" I started but Eldric cut in for me.

"-Want to know more about our kind; I know, you should know you are one of us Clarity"

Eldric told me with a smile on his face as he place a gentle hand on top of my shoulder.

"We are here" Eldric said as I look ahead to where the black lake, river whatever they call it is at.

But it is quiet. Really quiet.
