Walking away from him had to be the worst decision she had ever made in her life. Because that exact moment signified the end of her good luck, or to put it more accurately, the turning of tides in this war.

Things were about to change. Rapidly.

Ten high ranking officers, trusted by their leader were expecting her with drawn wands, ready to attack. Graham was laying on the ground in a pool of blood, looking exceptionally pale. His chest wasn't moving.

"He didn't betray you. He is loyal to a fault apparently, only to the wrong people though." The thought hadn't even occurred to her. Never once had she doubted his loyalty.

"Is he -?" Her voice cracked and lost its power getting lost in the wind.

"Dead. Apparently so. Protecting your secrets. " No, he couldn't be gone. Not that easily. It had to be a glamor. It had to be a lie..

Rowena.... Rowena had to know. Please, please she begged her to give her a sign that what she was seeing in front of her was a terrible dream. That her good friend Graham, the one that helped her before they even made a deal, the one that helped her smile after everything couldn't be surely gone.

The floor beneath her was trembling and everyone looked at her with terrified expressions, later she would learn that in her grief she had caused a massive earthquake, one that would take to the grave at least one third of Grindelwald's army. When she was going to be questioned about her crimes during the war time she couldn't be sorry for her crimes that day, she would plead guilty and claim that the bastards deserved what they got and that death was the least that would have happened to them. Did that make her a murder, a criminal, just the same monster as the ones she used to prosecute? Yes, but she had been a killer before, the murders she committed during her time in the front had been considered self defense, and they were, but she had erased human lives of the planet all the same. Innocents and criminals alike. Because that was the toll of war, there were no winning sides, only victims of them.

Either way, her capture was all the same, one minute the whole world was shaking, ready to split into two pieces at her command and the next she was laying on the cold stone floor, slightly bleeding from the back of her head.

Three hours earlier...

Graham was sitting in his study impatiently waiting for Cass to come back. He had grown fond of the girl, more than he liked to admit. Hell, if he liked girls life would have been so much easier for him because even now he was partially in love with her. Not in a romantic way but he loved her all the same. And if he was going to give her a shot to win this horrendous man people actually looked up to, he was going to take it. Rumors claimed of an attack on her and Graham, the blissful couple as many called them, if only they knew the rouse they had forged to get this far. He wasnt going to steal from the one person that had shown him unconditional live despite his ... preferences, the one that loved him wholly for who he was. His best friend. He was going to protect her, always. And so once the night fell, he disappeared into the snow, leaving one coded message behind.

Don't trust anyone, my love. For things are about to get exceptionally dangerous. Have no doubt, you come through any obstacles that may come in your way.

It hurt to leave like that. Particularly he was going to miss her nagging and her being a constant pain in his ass. But she was his pain in the ass, damn it. And he would go down fighting for her.

He went to the one person that could provide him with sanctuary. Theseus Scamnder. His best friend's personal lover boy.
