Weekend was over. Naomi barely had time to do anything else than work. She was getting to know new people from the Ferrari, and she was hyper focused on her job, she was determined to do a good job, because she didn't want others to think that she got this job just because they were generous to her, even thought it was a truth, she wanted to prove herself.
When Max finished first on sunday, she was so happy, but it was weird to feel this happiness, when all other people around her were disappointed, because of Charles's DNF and Carlos sixth place.
Max didn't do any more problems. To Naomi his behavior almost seemed suspicious, because he acted like nothing has happened. Naomi met Christian in the paddock on Sunday, but he acted weird. She assumed it is just because he is overworked, because they all were, recent events were definitely not pleasant and they all felt worn out. Naomi saw some photos of Max in a Ferrari t-shirt on Twitter, but other than that everything seemed to be calm.
It was Monday morning and they were supposted to leave. Naomi and Max decided that they will make a quick stop in Monaco and then fly to London, because Naomi promised her parents that she will visit them and bring Max with her to introduce him.
Naomi shoved a last thing into her suitcase when someone loudly knocked on their hotel room door. She looked at her watch to check time to see if it is a room service, but it was too early for that.
Max just smiled at her and went to open the door. Naomi turned her head to see who it is. Max opened the door.
Daniel stood there, his typical smile was gone. He stormed in and shut the door behind him. Max frowned.
"Daniel? Are you alright?" Naomi asked him.
"No- you both look like you don't know" Daniel said as he was pacing around the room in circles.
"We don't know what?" Max asked him. "Don't tell me there is some another f*cking issue, I just want some peace."
Naomi sighed, she agreed with Max, they all wanted some peace, but when she saw Daniel's face expression it was apparent that there won't be any peace.
Daniel put his phone in front of Max's face. Naomi went to look what he was showing him. When she saw it her face went pale. Her eyes widened and she looked at Max. He seemed to be also in a shock.
"Yeah" Daniel said and put his phone in a pocket of his jeans.
"That's a bullsh*t, it cannot be a truth" Max said in a disbelieve.
Naomi didn't say anything, she knew it is a truth.
"What are we going to do?" Naomi asked them.
"What can we do? Nothing" Daniel said his voice sounded like he gave up already.
"Christian cannot be f*cking replaced" Max said.
Naomi unlocked her phone. It was all over media.
Hot news. Christian Horner is going to be replaced in a two weeks. Who will replace him?
Christian Horner and his mistakes, what lead to his fall?
From an insider: Horner is being forced to resign, we are waiting for official statement from the Red Bull.
Naomi put away her phone. "We have to do something" she said seriously.
Max was already on it, trying to call Christian, but he wasn't picking up, they expected it.
Max took a hotel room phone next to a bed. "Reception? I need to know what room number has Christian Horner?" Max said into the phone.
..."I don't care, you will provide me that information. I'm Max Verstappen and I am pretty sure whole hotel is aware who I am" he said.
Naomi wasn't happy with Max using his name again to get what he wants, but this was an emergency.
..."Wondeful" Max said and hung up.
"So?" Daniel asked.
"236" Max said. He didn't have to say more. They all went out of the room to find the right number and room.
They found it quickly Max didn't bother to knock. He tried to open the door, but it was locked. Then he knocked. No response.
"I think he might be in an office in the paddock" Daniel said.
It was monday and technically Christian shouldn't be there, but Naomi didn't question it, they didn't have much options.
They took a taxi to the paddock. It was an awfully quiet ride.
---
Max pushed a door to Christian's office with a force.
Christian was there checking documents.
"Christian, what the f*ck?" Max asked.
Christian didn't even lift his head up from the documents. He expected them. Christian's phone started ringing, but he quickly declined the call. "Sorry, there is nothing I could do, that stunt of yours in that Ferrari merch was their last straw, little cherry on top" Christian said as he was going through some paper work.
"No, you are not leaving" Max statted.
"I am affraid it is done" Christian said and pushed the documents aside.
Max knocked down a chair. He was frustrated.
"Let's be rational, what can we do?" Naomi asked.
"Nothing" Christian said.
Naomi looked at them all, they all looked like they gave up. She frowned. "So you all are in one of the most competetive sports in the world and you are just going to give up?" she said.
"Trust me, if there was something what we could do-" Daniel said.
Max seemed to be lost in his own world, Naomi knew it is because of the fact that he thought it is all his fault.
Naomi frowned once again. She took few empty papers and a pen from a desk and left the office with a loud door shut.
