Flashback from the end of the last chapter:
gate. "I hope nothing happens to you, my daughter," Rosita began coldly. "You have my and our word that we don't hurt little girls in the commonwealth," came the soldier who was wearing white protective clothing. "Everywhere in the world they hurt little girls," Rosita replied coldly. "But not here," the soldier replied, whereupon Rosita nodded skeptically before going through the gate and first looking where she was and then making her way to Alexandria.
Now:
After Eziekel and Princess had sorted things out with the leader, they went back out and were now in the middle of the commonwealth and you could hear a lot of voices. There were a lot of people around but one thing immediately caught Sophie's and Princess's attention. A cart that sold ice cream, the two looked at the ice cream cart which Eziekiel noticed immediately which made him smile. "Just a quick stop for some ice cream?" Eziekiel asked with a smile while looking at Princess and Sophie. "Sounds great," Princess said enthusiastically when she answered Eziekel's question. "From me," Sophie just mumbled, but Eziekiel still understood. "Then I would say off to get the ice cream," Eziekiel said with a smile, whereupon Princess went off first and both Sophie and Eziekiel followed her. "It's been a long time since the last time I had ice cream," Eziekiel said in a calm tone while he looked straight ahead but then looked at Sophie, who agreed with him. "Yes, the last time I had no idea 6 or something? Definitely before everything went to shit," Sophie said thoughtfully but still rather coldly while the two followed Princess. After a few seconds the 3 arrived at the ice cream truck where a young man greeted the 3 in a friendly manner. "What are you allowed to do?" The salesman asked in a friendly tone. Princess then excitedly said that she would have some raspberry ice cream. "And what can I give you?" The seller asked Sophie in a friendly way, but Sophie thought about it and looked at the menu where there were different types of ice cream on it. Eziekiel, knowing that Sophie couldn't read, read some ice cream flavors to Sophie to give her an option to choose from."Something for you? Or something else?" Eziekiel asked curiously while looking at Sophie. "Mh caramel maybe?" Sophie's response was rather questioning but also thoughtful. "Okay, then add some caramel, the ice cream will be here soon," said the salesman in a friendly manner while he first looked at Sophie and then at Eziekiel and Princess. "Thank you very much," said eziekel with a smile. The three of them waited patiently, with Eziekiel looking in a few directions to get to know the new environment better. After about 2 minutes all 3 had ice cream. The seller gave it to them because he knew that the three probably didn't have any money yet because they were new because he had never seen them here before. Princess and Eziekiel thanked each other, with Sophie just nodding as a kind of thank you. So the three of them walked around and there was silence for a moment until Princes broke the silence after a few minutes. "Hey, do you think we could stay here permanently? Do you trust these people?" Princess asked in a curious tone to which Sophie answered immediately. "No." Sophie answered coldly, whereupon Princess looked at her questioningly. "An immediate no? But they gave us food and looked after us," came Princess's answer before she continued eating her ice cream. "They did the same thing in Terminus back then but then..." Sophie said coldly but still seriously as she held her ice cream in one hand but the other became more of a fist as Sophie thought back to Terminus. "Terminus what is that?" Eziekel then asked in a serious tone when he saw that Sophie was a bit tense. "Terminus was also a community. Mom, dad, I and a few others arrived there a long time ago. We were given food and the injured were also cared for, but that was all just an illusion. In reality, they were strange psychopaths, the place Terminus was just a camouflage, so to speak."Sophie then explained roughly what terminus was. "What if this is just a camouflage?" Sophie asked seriously while looking at Eziekel, who then thought about it for a moment but then answered. "It doesn't seem to me that the people here are dangerous to us but we should still stay vigilant just in case," Eziekiel said in a serious tone, to which both Sophie and Princess nodded in response. "And you keep your mom informed," Eziekel said in the same tone, whereupon Sophie nodded. Afterwards, when the topic was sort of settled and the three of them had each finished their ice cream, they looked around a bit more while they talked about different things. When it was evening everyone went to their assigned bungalow and spent the evening there. It was strange for Sophie, she spent the evening in a strange place without Rosita.
