Little black

a much needed explination and a not needed interruption

It took a couple minutes for what she had just heard to actually sink in.

"Your both of your trolly. You think I'm gonna belive a crazy man thats been in prison for 12 years?!" Cass voiced what all the kids were thinking

"Its ridiculous" Hermionie seconded

"Peter Pettigrew is dead, he killed him!" Harry spluttered angrily

"I ment to" Black growled, bearing his rotting teeth "but little Peter got the better of me......not this time though!"

The man lunged forward, aiming right for Scabbers which caused Cassie to stumble backwards and pull scabberes close to her chest.

"Sirius NO!"

Lupin caught him before he could reach the rat, dragging him backwards. Sirius struggled against him but was no match for Remus' wolf strength.

"Just wait! You can't do it like this. They have to understand my love. We need to explain"

"We can explain afterwards!"

"They have a right to know everything!" Lupin challenged with just as much frustration "Ron has kept him as a pet for years. There are parts of it even I don't understand. And Harry, Cassandra- you owe your godson and daughter the truth Sirius"

"He is not my father!"

Stormy grey eyes snapped towards Cassie and Sirius felt heart break and he stopped struggling at that but moved his eyes back to scabbers and fixed his gaze there.

"All right. Tell them whatever you like but, make it quick. I want to commit the murder I was imprisoned for"

"You guys are nuts" Cassie looked at her best friends and boyfriend for support and they all looked to agree with her "I think we are gonna leave now, come one guys"

"No!" Lupin grasped his daughters wrist "please Cassandra, you have to believe us. I have no intentions and nor ever will have any intentions to hurt you and neither does Sirius. All I ask is that you keep a tight hold of Peter as you listen and I promise you, you will see the truth"

The girl started at her Papa for moment, she saw the sheer desperation on his face. She could feel the same silent plea for his trust she had felt only a couple months ago. However, before she could agree to hand over the rat Ron shouted across the room.

"DONT LISTEN CASS, HES NOT PETER, HIS NAME IS SCABBERS!"

"There were witnesses that saw Pettigrew die!" Harry backed up "a street full of them"

"They didn't see what they thought the saw" Black croaked, still transfixed on the rat his daughter held.

"Everyone thought Sirius killed Peter. I believed it myself until I saw the map tonight, the marauders map never lies honey. Peter is alive and you are holding him" Lupin ignored the others and spoke this his daughter as of they were the only ones in the room.

Harry tried to catch his girlfriends eyes but she was too lost in the battle happening in her mind. Could any of this be true? Up until now Remus had given her no reason not to trust him, he'd been quite the opposite actually.

Harry moved onto Ron and the two boys gave a silent nod to eachother. Both still agreeing that the two men were mental.

Hermionie just looked on at the scene feeling a bit of both, the time she'd spent with Lupin she'd seen noting but care, friendliness and safety but she just could not make any sense of what the two men were saying and had no reason at all to trust Sirius Black. She decided to speak up, needing to try and understand what Lupin was talking about.
