"Thank you, darling," said Khaos grandma and watched as the young man dragged sacks of stones through her garden. He helped her tend the garden and they would eat together afterwards. Khao was already looking forward to today, but he was still nervous. Upset? Was that the right word? In any case, he was upset and didn't plan on telling his grandma anything about what had happened last week. He was still waiting for more news from the police, after all he was sure that Sun had something to do with it. Sun... there it was again, that name. The reason why Khaotung was so upset today.
"Grandma, can I ask you something?" "Of course, darling." "Why are you suddenly so nice to Sun?" his grandma sighed. Khao knew that there was a high probability that he would show up here at any moment. Sun had been living with his mother for some time, but because he has a heart condition, he can't do much. Neither Khao nor his grandma knew where he disappeared to during the day. But Khaotung could hardly ignore how affectionate his grandma suddenly was towards Sun.
"Khao, please, I don't want to argue..." "Me neither. I just want to know what I have to prepare for." "Prepare for? Do you think I'm going to betray you, my love?" >Aren't you already doing that?< "Grandma, I just want-"

The door opened and Sun was standing there, a broad grin on his lips. "Mae, I'm home." He said and smiled at Khao. "Khao, my boy, how are you?" "My boy? Have you lost your mind?" Khao asked angry. "Come on, boy, I had a good day today, please let's not argue." "A good day? Have you ripped off other people?" "Khaotung!" "What? It's true. If this man is having a good day, it can only be because of drugs." "Khaotung, stop it!" "No Khao, a good day in this case means that I have found a job." "A job? Oh Sun, honey, I'm happy for you!" said his grandma and jumped up. "Honey? And you throw your arms around his neck? Are you kidding me, grandma?" asked Khao and threw a bag of pebbles to the side. "I've had enough of this shit," he said, taking off his gloves and walking towards Sun with his index finger raised.
"You miserable piece of shit. Get out of our lives. Nobody here needs or wants you. You're a fucking murderer and drug addict who has never contributed anything productive to society. You are a fucking pile of garbage Sun and damn it, I hate you so much I would like to slap that dirty grin out of your face until you no longer have any of your fucking drug-corroded teeth left." "Khaotung, I've had enough!" "Stop it, grandma, I'm just as angry with you. I don't even recognize you anymore! I'm so angry every time I see you. You and your stupid double standards. You've been telling me for years how much you hate Sun, even your own daughter hates her brother. He took my parents, my parents who were like your children! And now, damn it, you act like it was never any different between you two. You're so loving to Sun, to a stupid murderer!" "It wasn't him!" his grandma suddenly shouted back. Khaotung looked at her and started shaking his head. "Now you're saying that shit too? All these years and now you believe him just because he had a heart attack?" "No, Khaotung. He's telling the truth. It wasn't Sun." Khao was angry. He made a clicking noise and turned slightly to the side before his anger took over completely, he turned back and hit Sun in the face with full force. "Khaotung stop !" screamed his grandma, but Khao couldn't be stopped. He hit the other man again and again until his nose bled. Khao held Sun by the collar and looked at him. "You pathetic piece of shit." "It wasn't me." he suddenly said quietly, looking straight at Khaotung and somehow, these words hit him like a hard punch. He looked at the other man confused and was about to hit him again, but couldn't. Somehow he couldn't. "Please darling, it wasn't him!" said his grandma and pulled Khao away from the other man.

"I can prove it wasn't me." "What?" "I know who did it and I'm partly to blame but it wasn't me." "What are you talking about you fucking idiot." "Kamon Kongchai Khamsaen." He said. Khao opened his eyes wide. The name sounded familiar. "Kamon?" "He killed your parents." Khao didn't feel well. He felt sick and dizzy and he could swear he was going to faint at any second. His stomach had been acting up for some time and every time new stress came along, he felt like he could hardly breathe. "Khaotung, I'll tell you everything, I swear on your parents' lives. But please believe me. I did not kill your parents." Khao stared at him. He didn't say anything, he just stared at him. "Khao ?" His grandma asked and put her hand on his shoulder. "Tell me the truth. Now." He suddenly said really angry.

"Kamon was the son of one of my friends. His father was already in prison and Kamon was more or less my protégé. I'm not proud of it, but how could I have kept him away from that shit when I was in the middle of it?" Sun sighed and slowly stood up. "Kamon started selling drugs at some point. Without me knowing, I mean. I told him to stop, he was going off the rails, but he carried on. At some point I found out that he had also sold something to your parents, several times. I had arguments with them. I had also sold them stuff, got them addicted, I know, and I still regret that to this day.. But at least with me they knew that the stuff wasn't tampered with."
"That doesn't make it any better, you freak." "I know... Anyway, one evening your father told me that Kamon claimed your father hadn't paid. Your father swore to me that that wasn't true. He had paid. Kamon had an argument with him and was suddenly standing in front of your house. Your father didn't know where he got your address from. He just stood there and watched you. If he didn't do it, his friends did. Kamon had made a name for himself as a dealer. His father died in prison and Kamon went completely crazy. He said the police had handed his father over to the other, much worse inmates and told lies about him. He became more and more aggressive and..." Sun swallowed. It looked like he had tears in his eyes. "At some point I got a call from your father. Kamon was standing in front of the house and he said he had seen a gun. I drove there immediately, but when I arrived, your father had already died and your mother was unresponsive. She didn't even notice that I was there, she was shaking... It was terrible... I heard noises from the kitchen and ran over to check." Khao tried his best to stay calm, even tho he wanted to cry, scream.. Let it all out.

Kamon ran out the back door and I ran after him, but he was too fast... And then.. suddenly you stood there with your little schoolbag and looked at me... as if I were the worst person you've ever met..." "If all this is true, then why didn't you rat on Kamon?" "He was only 17 and I had hopes that he would make something of his life. I felt like I owed his father something because... Because he saved my life years ago. Now I wanted to save his son's life..." "Sun, I don't know if I can believe you." "The most important thing for me was that you were okay. And if that meant that you hated me so that you could come to terms with your parents death.. then that was the only thing that mattered to me."
