The truth

"First, table three wants to order." His mom said as she walked into the restaurants kitchen. First nodded, grabbed something to write and walked out to the couple at the table. He helped his parents out today, since Fiat wasn't able to walk without crutches. His twin, who was still struggling with the aftermath of the accident, was here a few times with his girlfriend. After they go to his check ups in the hospital, they come here to eat. Now and then he even talked normally with his brother. There were no big conversations. More like 'how are you, good ? Okay, me too.' But that was a lot for the two of them. On this workday, which couldn't have been more normal, First wanted nothing more than to finish work so he could finally talk to Khaotung. They hadn't heard from each other for hours. Khao was with Satang and even though he would be back tonight, First already missed him. It wasn't that he wouldn't allow Khaotung to go out or vice versa, but both were quite clingy, especially now in 'the early days' of their relationship.

"Hello, we're back." "Fiat, Lilly, how are you?" asked the boys' mother and almost ran to the door to greet the two. Fiat was still having trouble walking with the crutches, especially since his chest and stomach still hurt. And there was no need to even start on the broken leg. "Sit over here, sit down. I'll bring you something to eat in a minute." "Thank you very much." said Lilly and finally looked at First. "Hello, First." He slowly walked over to the two and nodded. "Everything okay?" "Everything okay." replied Fiat and looked back at his hands that were lying on the table in front of him. "We've just come from the hospital. Everything seems to be healing well, his kidney is slowly recovering. The pain is still there, of course, but-" "Lilly, he doesn't care." interrupted Fiat and immediately both peoples eyes shot to him. "I never said I wasn't interested." "You don't have to, I still know." "Come on, why are you like this again ?" "Like what ?" "Fiat, First. Stop this bullshit already, we have customers ! They don't have to hear you guys fighting like idiots again." Their mom said as she sat down at their table. She leaned over the table and smiled at her son. "Tell me, how was the physiotherapy?" "My leg is shattered. There's not much to tell." "Oh, Fiat don't be like that. And I'm sure there's been progress! Fiat has a new technique for walking with crutches. He's mastered it pretty well, even though it's still so new." his girlfriend told her and Fiats mother was visibly happy, but he played it down. "How about you two eat cake with us later? Your father baked today and we wanted to eat something during the break." she said and Lilly agreed immediately.

First was standing in the dining room and setting the table. He was annoyed at the thought that Fiat acted like that again. It seemed like he had found something to take three steps back again with their relationship. Why was he like that again today? "Can I help you in any way?" asked Lilly, startling First. She closed the door behind Fiat, who sat down and looked at his brother. "No." "Are you sure? I can do something." "I don't need help." "You can say that in a nicer way." said Fiat, and First slowly got angry. He put down the cutlery and looked at his brother. "You of all people are trying to tell me about talking nicely?" "Boys, nothing happened. Please don't argue again." "Stay out of it, Lilly." First said pissed. "Hey, that's enough. You don't talk to my girlfriend like that!" "Oh fuck off Fiat. Weren't you the one who talked to my boyfriend like that? Even more condescending?" "What's it got to do with you? Khaotung and I don't have any problems anymore." "I noticed that, after all you claim that Mae and Por treated you like shit because of me. Or were you just trying to drive a wedge between me and Khao?" "Are you kidding me? Without Khaotung I would have died, you miserable piece of shit." "Guys, please calm down. Stop arguing." Lilly asked the two of them desperately, but neither of them reacted. "I really thought we could get back to normal together after you almost died. But you're just as much of an asshole as before." "Fuck you, First, I wish I hadn't called Khao that night." "Fiat!" said Lilly. "Why? You're too cowardly to tell me what I did wrong and now you're too cowardly to listen to me that you'd rather die?!" "Just shut up!" "Then tell me what I did to you, so I can finally get over the fact that my brother is a fucker who doesn't want anything to do with me anymore." "You don't know anything, but you have such a big mouth." "Then enlighten me, Fiat. You owe me that!" "I owe you shit!" "Tell me what I did to you!" First screamed. "I knew Min-Joo's mother was planning to run away!" Fiat shouted back and suddenly it became very quiet.

"What?" First asked, he thought he had misheard him. He felt sick and had to sit down. "I knew she wanted to run away and I knew..." Lilly grabbed her boyfriends hand. "I knew she was pregnant again. And not by you." Now it made sense, the two children that First had seen on her profile... "Fiat, I don't understand...?" The twin sighed and looked up into his brothers eyes. "One evening, shortly after Min-Joo was born, I was out with friends. We were walking through the city and at some point I met her, but she was holding the hand of another man.
I confronted her and she apologized, said it was a slip-up and she was sorry, she didn't want to lose you and Min-Joo. I was angry with her but didn't want to ruin your new family happiness, so I hoped that she would tell you herself..." "Is that why you were suddenly so dismissive and mean to her?" Fiat nodded and First let out a breath that he unconsciously held. "A while later, I was out with friends again. We passed a hotel that she had just come out of. She looked totally torn apart, you know what I mean..." First nodded and looked at his fingers. "I grabbed her and sent my friends away. I took her aside and asked what the hell that was all about. Of course, she denied everything at first, but then told me that she was meeting a guy from Korea and that she was pregnant. She told me she loved you and wanted to end things with that guy but she couldn't because of the baby. I asked her if she was sure you weren't the father and she said you hadn't had sex for months. And then she said... she suspected you were gay." A cold shiver ran down Firsts spine. He sat there and took in every word. "I told her... that I know that, but it's not our job to out you. Besides, there are other sexualities too. You could be bi, pansexual or something else. I didn't want to take your coming out away from you, even though I knew that you weren't only attracted to women." "How...?" "First, I'm your twin brother. I just knew it." First nodded. He was embarrassed to look at either of them. "After that night, she swore to me that she would finally tell you everything, but three days before she left, she wrote to me that she was sorry and that she couldn't tell you. She loved you too much, but she couldn't take it anymore. I asked her what was going to happen with your family, with Min-Joo and she said she never wanted Min-Joo. She only had him for you but she had no maternal feelings for this child. It was different with the child she was pregnant with. She said she was happy when she saw the two lines on the test. On the day she left she wrote to me again... >I can't do this anymore, I'm gone.< She told me you would hate me if I told you the truth, so I thought it would be better not to say anything. But because I realized that I couldn't do that and hated myself for not telling you, I simply distanced myself... but you didn't let it go and the whole thing escalated." "Of course it escalated. I thought you hated me, but at that point I only had you." "First.." Fiat sighed.. "I am so sorry for everything that has happened." First sighed and bit his lower lip. "Me too." he said, stood up and ran into his room. He grabbed all sorts of clothes, threw them in a bag and ran out of the house. He ran and ran and ran..
