In the medieval times with Merlin, Douxie and Archie.
...He turned as he heard a loud bang on the outside of the castle, he gazes at Archie but it seemed he didn't hear. Douxie shrugs, maybe he was imagining things.
"Oh my! Douxie please, you smell awful." Archie shakes his head in disgust as he tries to speed up his movement from his familiar. They were walking the semi dark halls that had torches lighted, back to Merlin's study after he had sent his apprentice to do another task that Douxie tried to persuade his way out of. Failing miserably.
Douxie grimaced as he pulls his hand closer to his face again and almost gags as he pulls away from the funny smell of the slor. The blue liquid smeared almost every where on him. He'd really have to change his clothes now.
But he had other ideas in mind as he watched the swaying tail of Archie at least 6ft away from him.
He catches up with a smirk on his face and quickly pulls the cat into his arms, making sure to rub his face of the slor's liquid into Archie's fur. Archie protesting all the way. Douxie then teases, "Says the one who has to now bathe, huh?" Archie simply rolls his eyes in disappointed and tries to escape his capturer. Douxie simply making that even difficult.
As they reach to a stop at Merlin's door, Douxie almost jumps out of his skin as he sees Merlin swinging the doors open with an unhappy look. Douxie is almost ready to shot back something, maybe an apology though he doesn't know what for, before he watches Merlin stride out of the door. His staff appearing. He and Archie exchange a confused look and Douxie decides to reach up to his Master.
"Master Merlin, is something wrong?" He tries to keep up with the man in silvery knights armor, his speedy pace having Douxie out of breath, "An attack on the castle is occurring. I expect you to stay within these walls and not defy me."
But Douxie only heard the first part, smiling at an opportunity. "Can I help? There must be something I can do to assist the Kingdom- and you, right Master, please." He only sees Merlin shake his head, knowing the boy would only want to hear what he wants to. They turn into a another hallway, knights leaving there stations to help in the fight from outside.
Merlin is barking orders to defend the corners of the kingdom and to protect the King who was already fighting for his kingdom. And Douxie briefly wonders where Morgana is during all this chaos, ''Merlin, let me-'' then he's being interrupted by one of Merlin's green muzzle spells in his face, ''Enough of you Hisirdoux. Stay. Here.'' Merlin commanded.
And he's gone leaving Douxie to cough as he vanishes the spell quickly, the after effect attacking him. He calms his breathing and sighs defeated.
He looks down on his familiar and an idea pops up in mind, ''Oh no,''
Douxie gives him a questioning look, ''You have that thinking face on, I'm terribly worried,'' Douxie frowns at his laughing familiar that decides to hop from his hands transforming into a dragon and flying above as Douxie gazes at his beating wings, ''I take it back, I'm terrified.''
...
And both found themselves on the battle field on green grass falling between the dark forest and the kingdom. He was doing a few defense spells until he started casting attacks of his own. Archie was above helping just as much, his fire raining in the nights sky as he kills off trolls. Douxie had been contemplating on the new wave of spell that could blow down at least a small army. It would do a great deal of damage.
Within this fight he finds it the best time to put that idea into action. He's taking a deep breath as he draws in all of his energy and magic into once place, arms widening as his magic grows with circular wisps of blue and white and just as he find the perfect place to do it, he releases. And all at once the trolls are thrown down, blown back by the wave, and crumbling into their own rocks, into pieces. He's mesmerised at his work, by gods he was sure only higher level wizards could pull that off but he really did it.
And in the midst of a war between Knights and trolls he finds himself looking for his Master. Was he expecting a praise? A happy man to say 'job well done'? Maybe. Look at whats he's done though, Merlin must be proud of him, right?
But as he catches the sight of Merlin holding off a troll as it goes to attack the great Arthur, Merlin is calling out his name, and Douxie is puzzled by the worrying look. And he wasn't quick enough to hear his familiar yelling to watch out as something had knocked him unconscious. The feeling of falling being the last thing he remembers.
...
He wakes up to the sound of two voices and the heavy steps of someone going back and forth again and again. He open his eyes and hisses, not as quietly as the two voices stop. His eyes are adjusting now as he realizes he's in his room, on his bed, with Merlin and Archie both looking worried.
He's reaching up a hand to feel the wet cloth placed on his head and the memories come rushing back.
''Douxie, finally you're awake ,'' Archie is rubbing at his face already and Douxie can hear the loud purrs as he scratches at his ears, calming down his friend. Then he's looking back up at Merlin who had came closer looking down at Douxie with an expression he's unable to decipher, then he's speaking, ''Master, I'm so sorry, I should have never,-''
''Hisirdoux,'' and he's prepared for some comment of disappointment or an everlasting lecture, not the man himself kneeling at his bed and holding a calloused hand to his head, ''Are you in any pain?'' Douxie's mouth is open but no words sound and Merlin begins to frown as he quickly shake his head in response.
He almost worries to take it back and give an actual voiced answer so as to not upset the man as he hates non verbal answers. But Merlin is stopping his head shake quickly, leaving a surprised Casperan. ''Well,'' his voice gruff as he runs a hand through the boy's hair, ''I'm glad your okay, though what you did was reckless, it did a great deal in finishing the battle,'' but he's still speech less and his throat is closing up and just - he wasn't expecting any of this.
No one was really prepared for when he leaped up to hug the man, sobbing with fast tears steaming down his face so quick that it's hard to stop.
He can feel Merlin holding on to him just as tightly, his heart was racing at his unplanned motive to embrace him, now not so much, and the minutes pass.
Douxie is calming down now, a few hiccups escaping an they finally pull away. Douxie lays back down drawing up the covers and he feels dizzy but it felt good to let that out, he's closing his eyes, not caring what's happening around him and feels sleep catching up to his tired body. That spell was wearing him out now. But he'd have to ask about what had hit him later on when he wasn't so tired.
Merlin finds it best to leave then, knowing Archie will look after his young apprentice.
Deep down, he never voice the thoughts of being worried sick, if Douxie would be conscious again. Having a long talk with what spell exactly the boy had done. Then giving Archie the warning himself to keep him from any spells higher than his body could handle. Merlin knows Douxie is strong, but he wasn't risking anything to lose him, not now. He knows he'll learn and perhaps maybe become the best wizard there is. In his own flaws and talents, ofcourse. Deep down, he's more than proud.
He gets up and stops at the door as a voice presents itself, ''Thank you, father...''' he turns around to find that the young boy is fast asleep, a hand thrown over Archie who looks at him then nods. A silent promise. He copies the motion as he opens the door quietly and leaves, closing it just as softly too. And behind the door, that night, no one sees the smile he doesn't suppress, no one hears the, ''You're welcome son. Goodnight.''
