"What? H-How did you guys-" Lucas asked shocked.
"So, you accept it's your fault?" James asks.
"No, not at all. You are not one to interfere in my matters— personal matters." Lucas spoke frustrated.
"We are your employee, what's the guarantee you will not kiss or exploit other female employees?" Michael asks.
"ENOUGH!" Akshita yelled. Everyone turned silent. The few employees who work on this floor, looked at akshita in shock.
"No one talks badly about MY Lucas, he is my world, my future husband, my EVERYTHING. Dare say anything bad about him again and you won't see the office the next morning." She spoke everything, holding his hand in hers tightly. "Also, It's not your place to judge or spread gossip. Lucas and I are in a relationship, and it's our private matter. We could kiss, marry or date, it's none of your concern. This office gossip is unprofessional and harmful." Akshita spoke, glaring at James and his group.
"But if it's affecting the work environment, maybe it needs to be addressed."
"Address it by talking to us directly, not by spreading rumors. It's important to maintain respect for each other, regardless of personal lives." The group falls silent, some employees looking uncomfortable.
"So, now any questions?" Akshita spoke, still in her angry mode. No one has ever seen her so riled up, Lucas was looking impressed by her bravery and how she took a stand for their relationship.
Everyone kept glancing at each other, no one daring to speak.
"Good. Now, everything is clear, so I should not hear anything about this matter again. Its our personal life, we didn't kiss in the office or broke any ethics so everyone be in your limits. If I cross mine, it won't be good for any one of you all, tell this to others too. I don't want to hear anymore of the bad talks about my Lucas. Got it?" Everyone stayed silent.
"GOT IT?" She yelled. Everyone rushed out a quick yes.
"Good. Now, not a one more word about this things. I am telling you this last time. No one, talks bad about my future husband."
Akshita walks away along with lucas, leaving behind a room full of hushed conversations and uneasy glances.
Akshita and Lucas entered his cabin. Lucas slumped down on the chair, looking worried. His birthday had been officially runied.
"Sorry Lucas, I may have spoke too much outside."
"Don't apologise, you did a great work. You defended our relationship. I feel happy."
"Oh!"
"Akshita, thank you so much for taking a stand for me." She shrugged her shoulders.
"Areey! No need for the thank you, future husband."
