Author's pov
The house was quiet but warm, filled with the soft hum of life. Advika, now 15, was sprawled on the living room floor, books open around her as she helped Liana with a school project. At just 9, Liana’s curiosity seemed endless, her questions spilling out in between fits of giggles.
From the kitchen, Akshita watched her daughters with a tender smile, her heart full. Lucas stood beside her, his arm draped around her shoulders, a quiet contentment in his eyes. Their journey had been anything but easy, but it was theirs—filled with love, laughter, and the kind of moments that made life worth living.
"Remember when she used to cry every morning before school?" Akshita whispered, nodding toward Liana.
Lucas chuckled softly. "And now look at her—our little explorer, leading the way."
"Dada, dada!" A squeal was heard of both the girls, as they ran towards him.
"Yes, my babies?" He asked, picking them both in his arms.
"Dada, you know i got a chocolate from school." Advika said with a happy smile, Lucas smiled at her lovingly. Liana was busy playing with his hairs.
"Oh yeah? Did teacher gave it to you?"
Advika shook her head, "No, my friend."
"Who? Lily or Ana?"
"Jake." Lucas looked at her wide eyes.
Akshita looked at both the duo trying to hide her giggle. She carefully took Liana in her arms, as she knew Lucas is going to go crazy.
"Jake? A boy?" He asked in shock.
"Yes, silly dada." Advika said giggling.
"A. Boy. Gave. You. A. Chocolate?"
"Yes, dada." She replied with a smile.
"Did you eat it?"
Advika nodded her head cutely, "Yes, dada."
Lucas blinked at Advika, his jaw dropping in mock horror. "A boy gave you chocolate, and you ate it? Without asking me?"
Advika giggled, her laughter filling the room. "Dada, you're being silly. Jake is just a friend!"
"Silly? Me? Oh no, young lady, we are going to have a serious talk about this chocolate situation," Lucas said, narrowing his eyes playfully.
Akshita, holding Liana, couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore. "Lucas, let her have her friends. She's growing up."
Lucas sighed dramatically, placing a hand over his chest. "Growing up too fast, if you ask me."
Advika climbed onto his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Don't worry, dada. You'll always be my favorite boy."
Lucas melted instantly, hugging her tightly. "You better remember that."
Liana clapped her little hands, drawing everyone’s attention. "Dada's funny!" she exclaimed, making the family laugh even harder.
The house was filled with warmth, laughter, and the kind of love that only grew stronger with time. It was moments like these that made everything worthwhile.
