"She would've killed you," his words echoed through the mask.
You stared at him, blankly. A storm of emotions was exploding inside of you, but all your face could express was a lonesome stare. His words couldn't be denied. At this moment, you should've been dead. Yet, you were standing and Tasi laid down at the ground by your feet. Lifeless. A part of you were wondering how it was possible, another part of you comforted yourself with the truth that the force wanted you to live another day.
Your eyes went down to Tasi body. She was just a child. A teenager, wanting revenge for her Master. Her eyes were still open, and where you had seen anger, it was now only pain. You couldn't help but wonder now that she had taken your destiny, if she might be able to see Yord now. A thought you couldn't entertain for long, before you feared what Yord would think of you now. Would he blame you? Could you have done more?
"We need to leave," the masked man spoke up, ripping you back to reality.
He stood only meters away, with Tasi body between you. His words spoke of truth, but your mind wanted to stay. You could explain what had happened. Elzar would believe you. Bell had seen her rage, her intent was clear. They would speak for you.
Then it was Vernestra. She would refuse to believe you, if she so had to deny the truth. You didn't kill her, but it didn't matter. This did not look good. Tasi laid dead at your feet. Nothing you could say in an instant would justify it. They would need to take you in, arrest you, maybe then they would let you speak as a part of the interrogation. It would tarnish your reputation. Even if you came out of it free, without a judgement, it would destroy your position in the order.
"Y/n, we need to leave," you looked up at him, confused by hearing your name through the mask.
"They'll think I did it," you whispered.
The man in the mask who you knew so well, stood still for a second. You may never know what was going on inside of his mask. He suddenly ignited his lightsaber, kicked Tasi body so she laid on her back, before he stabbed her three times, just like he had with Jecki. You didn't know what body was laying infront of you anymore.
"No, they won't," his voice was so dark, scattered through the mask.
You looked up at him.
He did this for you.
He took the blame.
His hand reached out of his robes, and open his palm for you. You had missed his hand. His skin against yours. The mask was just that, a mask. For you, it didn't hide what was underneath. It was Qimir, it was always Qimir.
"Trust me," he said,
And you did.
You took his hand, and stepped over Tasi body. His hands hugged your body tight into him. Calming you down. You could hear his heartbeat. You closed your eyes and one single tear fell down your cheek. Not only that, but you had been so afraid, but bottled it all up. Afraid Tasi was going to kill Bell, then feared it was your last day in the Order. Now you could buy yourself time. With your thumb, you brushed away the tear. One hand fell to his chest, as you pushed yourself away, so you could see the dark creature in the mask.
"My lightsabers-" you suddenly remembered, turning around wanting to grab them, but Qimir pushed you gently back into his arms.
"You have to leave them, when they come they'll see she used them against you," he spoke as the only sound of reason.
You nodded. It made sense. It was smart. Your eyes grew big. You opened your mouth.
"What will they think of me?" You whispered.
Qimir got silent. He didn't want to say it, but he had promised himself to be truthful with you this time around.
"They'll think you ran away," you shook your head, you could not have them thinking that.
You grabbed Qimir's lightsaber, and ignited it. His hands immediately covered yours, stopping them from moving. He knew exactly what you were trying to do. You looked at him with frustration in your eyes.
"You have to use it on me, they have to believe-" you tried to shake his hand, but his hands weren't rocking.
"I will never hurt you," his words were heavy.
Your hands let go off his lightsaber. The mask intent was to block off the ability for other Jedi to read his mind, but at this moment, you didn't need to read his mind, not even hear his voice, to sense a sadness in him. It got quiet, for what felt like minutes. With a sudden move, trying to throw him of you, disarmed the lightsaber out of his hand. You closed your eyes, as you were to rip it into one of your legs. Before the blade could touch your skin, Qimir with one strong hand movement, pushed you off your feet hitting the wall so hard that you passed out with the force. The lightsaber went back, safely, into his hands. He walked over to you, his steps heavy. He moved your body so you were laying on your back. Your face were pale, but he could sense you were still alive.
"What Extraordinary Beings We Are, Even In The Revelation Of Our Triumph, We See The Depth Of Our Despair" he whispered, letting his thumb caress your cheek.
He could sense people coming. More people than just the Jedi. He gently picked you up.
"He has her!" They shouted.
You were wondering earlier what they would see, and in hindsight it was almost cruel. They saw you in his arms, and yes, he had you.
This time, he was not going to let his ego stand in the way. He did not wish to take any risks, not with your life at stake. With the help of the dark side of the force, he disappeared in front of their eyes.
