part 3 summary (just incase you forgot why happened):
carter goes back to africa in hopes of finding luka.
gianna is grieving.
carters stays in africa, leaving abby with a breakup letter, luka comes back and is found alive. we meet gillian (the nurse carter was sleeping with in africa)
luka is recovering from malaria, gianna and luka are (actually) better than ever, now. like really..
luka returns to work. we meet sam taggart. gianna is very busy in her work, as is luka. gianna doesn't feel like herself.. luka comforts her, but she feels tired, likes she's in a funk.
sams kid, alex, is frequently seen hanging around in the er. especially hanging around luka.
gianna finds out she's pregnant!!
gianna is very anxious, but decides to keep her baby. a helicopter crashes in the ambulance bay, killing romano.
the staff find out about gianna's pregnancy. on christmas, carter arrives back in chicago with a pregnant girlfriend, makemba. abby is bitter about this, admitting she still loves carter.
gianna and luka officially move in together. susan is pregnant! gianna and pratt form a friendship, aswell as sam and gianna.
abby goes back into med school, also still doing nursing (carter pays for her med school).
further into her pregnancy, gianna gets moodier. her and susan bond over being pregnancy-sisters. we meet weavers baby, henry.
gianna is excited for her baby, so is luka. in fact, pregnancy has only made them grow closer. gianna is completely attached to luka. gianna finds that frank after he has a heart attack. pratt stays with him in the cath lab. susan gets put on bedrest. carter contemplates on a nursery theme for his baby. gianna tells him her baby's nursery is yellow (painted by luka). gianna's pregnancy begins to feel more real, she's scared, but luka reassures her. gianna is exhausted. carter finds out kem miscarried. abby apologizes to gianna for betraying her, and becoming a doctor. gianna says she is very proud of abby for finishing med school. luka finds gianna crying, since sam quit the er.
abby and neela graduate.
neela realizes michigan was a mistake, and tries to find a job at county.
sam is back in the er!
gianna sneaks into the er, trying to work, even though she was ordered on bedrest. weaver catches her and sends her home. this makes gianna unhappy. gianna bonds with susan and her newborn. she spends the fourth of july watching fireworks with luka, taking in their last moments alone together. they are very excited for the baby.
gianna delivers her baby!! she and luka finds out it's a boy!!
baby boy (milo) is two weeks old, and gianna is getting used to motherhood. luka is getting used to parenthood again. after luka heads back to work, gianna meets up with sam, abby, and susan, they meet baby milo. gianna and susan stay, chuck brings cosmo. gianna arrived back in the er, trying to get back into the swing of things. she misses her baby, and is trying to take things slow. a fake cherry bomb explosive (test for the er) brings in fake girl scout patients, stressing gianna out. pratt tells her to go upstairs and wheel around a patient for awhile. he's her saviour. postpartum is hard for gianna. it's even harder for her to learn to juggle being a mama and a nurse manager. it's christmas, chen quits the er, gianna meets a new intern, and luka and gianna spend christmas together after they put baby boy to sleep.
after, into the new year, luka comes home from the day shift, telling gianna weaver was complaining about her. she thinks gianna is feeling anxious, or on edge during her postpartum time. gianna is annoyed at this, and confronts her. she gets annoyed at weaver, going into the ambulance bay for an incoming patient. weaver thinks she walked out. but as gianna is waiting, she gets taken into a van by two unknown men.
