The first week of being married was great, Buck loved referring to Eddie as his husband, the two just enjoying being together as newlyweds. Buck hated that he knew something bad was going to happen, everything was going so well until it wasn't.

Eddie had gotten shot, right in front of Buck. The younger man was splattered with his husband's blood and the sight of Eddie on the ground, a pool of blood surrounding him would never leave Buck's mind. It was permanently engrained in his brain. That night, Buck had to go home and tell Shannon what had happened and insisted on being the one to tell Christopher. Shannon was right by their sides, holding the two as Buck broke down when Bobby had texted the man that Eddie was out of surgery and that it went well.

Now it was just a waiting game. He had to wait for Eddie to wake up after the surgery and then he could ease his mind. Buck was given as much time as he needed so he spent most of his time at the hospital at Eddie's bedside, holding his husbands hand and talking to him, hoping the other man could hear what he was telling him.

"God Eddie. I was so scared I was going to lose you. We hadn't even gone on our honeymoon yet and I thought you were going to die on me." Buck shakes his head, tears falling down his cheeks as he spoke. "We were all scared. I don't know what I would have done if I would have lost you."

"You would have helped Shannon take care of Christopher, that's what you would have done." Eddie's voice was raspy. Buck immediately looked up and started crying even harder. "It's okay Buck, I'm here." He squeezed his husband's hand tightly as if to say he was there and he was never going to let go.

Buck basically crawled into the hospital bed with the other man, carefully avoiding the shoulder that had been shot, and held him tightly. "I broke down telling Christopher." He admits after a few moments of silence.

"Why didn't you let Shannon tell him?" Eddie asks, closing his eyes and just taking in the moment.

Shrugging his shoulders, Buck cuddles closer to his husband as if he wasn't already close enough. "I thought I had to be the one to tell him, since I was with you when it happened. I didn't want to put that on Shannon." He spoke softly. "He took it pretty well."

"Good." Eddie says and leans down, pressing a kiss to Buck's head. "I love you."

"I love you too Eds."

Buck decided against doing a surprise welcome back party so that Eddie wasn't overwhelmed by all of the people. Instead, it was just going to be himself, Christopher, Shannon, Maddie and Jee, all of which Eddie had been okay with as long as it wasn't a house full of people. Eddie also wouldn't say no to seeing their niece either.

"Daddy!" Christopher exclaims as the two men walk into the house, the little boy crowding his father's space.

Eddie chuckles softly. "Hold on Mijo, you need to let me get into the house first."

Christopher huffed but did as he was told, walking over to Maddie to see what Jee was doing.

Buck helped Eddie get situated on the couch before he scooped Christopher up without any warning and sat him on the couch next to Eddie, smiling as he instantly hugged his dad tightly. "I missed you." The boy mumbles before going on a tangent about what he did while he was in the hospital. When Buck let Shannon sit at the hospital, he had taken Christopher to the zoo and the aquarium, the boy absolutely loved it.

"We're glad you're home Eddie." Maddie smiled from where she was seated, watching her brother-in-law. "I know you scared the absolute hell out of Buck."

"I know." He says and sighs heavily. "But it's a part of the job. Freak accidents happen."

Shannon walked out of the kitchen with a couple of beers in one hand and two glasses of wine in the other. "We need to put you two boys in bubble wrap." She says, handing a beer each to Eddie and Buck and one of the wine glasses to Maddie.

"Thank you, Shannon. Can't remember the last time I actually had a glass of wine." Maddie laughs and hums in appreciation as she took the first sip from her glass. She looked down at a sleeping Jee-Yun in her arms and smiled. "Buck, you're pretty quiet over there." She narrowed her eyes. "Are you plotting how to come take her from me?"

Buck's eyes widen in mock surprise as he shakes his head. "Me? No never." He says as he gets up from his spot on the couch and makes his way over, knowing that Maddie would hand over the baby anyways. "Actually, yes I was. I haven't seen my sweet girl in a few days." He says and gently takes her from Maddie's arms and goes to sit back on the couch next to his husband who had Christopher on his lap.

Maddie just about cried at seeing the four of them on the couch together, her brother sidled up to his husband and each one of them with a child. She must have thought Shannon was thinking the same thing she was. "Shannon take a picture. Don't know when we're going to get a picture of them with a baby again."

Buck and Eddie look at each other and laugh softly. "Actually Maddie, it might happen sooner than you think. We asked Shannon to be our surrogate, we just haven't figured out when we want to start going through with it." Eddie told his sister-in-law.

Maddie's eyes just about popped out of her head. "And I wasn't in the loop on this?" She asks incredulously. "But that's awesome, I'm happy for you guys. But do it soon. Jee needs a cousin that's close in age."

Shannon laughs and shakes her head. "It's all up to the guys."

Later that night as they were getting ready for bed Eddie brought up the earlier conversation. "Buck." He says his husbands name softly as he crawls into bed, laying on his good side so that he was facing the side that the other man lays. "Let's do it as soon as possible. I don't want to wait any longer to have a baby with you."

"Are you sure? I don't want the whole process to overwhelm you while you're still healing." Buck says and lays in bed next to Eddie, pulling the covers over both of them. "If that's what you want though, we can definitely talk to Shannon and start figuring out the process."

"Like you haven't already researched it." Eddie rolls his eyes playfully. "But yeah, that's what I want. I want to grow our family."

"Okay. We'll talk to Shannon in the morning then. I love you baby." Buck presses a kiss to his husband's forehead.

Eddie sighs contently and closes his eyes. "Love you too. Goodnight." And he was already slowly drifting off to sleep, dreaming about Buck and Christopher and the future children they would have together.
