Luke

It's been two weeks since I came to New York, and I still haven't found a way to go talk to Stefano.
I have been watching him closely, too closely if you ask me, but I can't help it, I just wanted to see how his life is up close.
And like I guessed, he's happy, really happy with... Matteo.

That's his name, the man Stefano fell in love with.
I've read about him and seen his picture before I came here but I actually got to see him close the past two weeks I've been here, yes I may have trailed him once or twice, you can't blame me, I was curious.

He's in the fucking mafia, actually he kind of second runs one, who knew? Stefano has it for bad boys, well I wouldn't be surprised, given the kind of job Stefano does.
He's changed a lot over time, I guess we both changed.
I became a fucking private investigator and he became and arms dealer and a very good sniper shooter.

I've seen them both together on two occasions, and I couldn't help the sting I felt in my chest, they looked good together, I wasn't going to lie, I was kind of jealous of them
Deep down I wished that would have been Stefano and I, but I guess it's a far fetched wish for me.

I'm not going to lie, I can see now why Winston was threatening to kill him if I didn't take up the job of killing Stefano, he makes Stef so happy, more happy than I've ever seen him.
I envy them, a whole fucking lot, but I can't blame anyone for how my life turned out, it's all on me.

I sighed out as I adjusted myself in the car, my ass was cramping because I've been sitting here for the past hour or so, I've been watching Stefano from my car, he was at an ice cream stand just a few feet away from where I parked my car, I followed him here from his apartment.

I'd been trying to go talk to him but my nerves keeps failing me, I can't seem to muster up the courage to walk up to him, I had waited at his apartment for close to an hour he came out with a man, a man I couldn't recognize, well I didn't really see his face much, just his back but I followed them nonetheless, and now I was watching them have ice cream while the other guy flirted with the ice cream lady.

With how comfortable Stefano seemed around him, I can already guess he's probably a friend or an acquaintance.
They were paying for their ice cream, which means they're about to leave, alright, it's now or never.
I have to go talk to him.
I felt nervous, my hands were shaking, my heart was beating very fast and loud.

I let out a deep breath and rubbed my sweaty palms together before I looked outside again, they were walking away from the ice cream place, I watched them walk past my car and I shut my eyes and took a deep breath one last time before I pushed open my car door and stepped out.

The breeze hit my face, it was kind of chilly tonight but I was hot, not good hot, nervous hot.
I watched them as they kept walking, I know it wouldn't take long before they got to Stefano's apartment, I know because they walked here.

I slowly followed behind them, making sure to keep my distance so they don't notice me before I get a chance to talk to him.
I was fucking scared, I didn't know what I was going to say if I stopped him, where would I even begin.
The last time I saw him was the day he looked at me like that, like I had broken everything there is about him, like I had taken something from him, which I know I did.

Okay, focus Luke, you can do this, just talk to him.
Anything, just say anything.
I sighed out and let out a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart.
I looked up and I could see his apartment building from where I stood, it's now or never.

I opened my mouth and without letting my brain stop me, I had already called his name "Fano" I whispered out, calling him the name I used to call him when we were kids.
