I sat beside Spade, a drink in hand as I watched the huge living area of his Mansion, filled up with people, mostly his men from the mafia, a few other people I couldn't recognize, and Stefano, Matteo, Nate and of course Hewitt.
This was one gathering that I couldn't talk my way out of, true, Spade rarely ever asked questions about my life, it didn't mean I could get away with anything, one of them being rejecting this invite, I couldn't reject this invite without having Spade ask questions or know that something was up with me, so here I am, in the same room with Hewitt as I watched him ignore my very existence, like I wasn't even here.

Knowing that there was a time he would have jumped at the opportunity to sneak me out of a place like this, so we could have sex, it made my chest burn with pain, now we were like total strangers to each other, it was worse than when we just met.

This was Su's birthday party, Nate's older sister, also Matteo's sister, but she wasn't Spade's sister, don't ask me, I don't even understand how that works, and I'm too neck in deep in my own problems to bother about their weird family tree.
I couldn't not come even if I wanted to, after Spade invited me, Nate took it upon himself to tell me that I had to be here, I couldn't miss it, so that's why I'm stuck here, in a room, with the man I once had feelings for, the man I'm in love with right now, and the one I have a crush on, I have one of the most dramatic and shitty life out there

I sighed out, shifting my attention away from Hewitt, who seemed to be enjoying the party just fine, even without me by his side, actually he never wanted me by his side.
I can't keep looking at him like that, it's going to get creepy, and with the way things ended between us the last time, I don't want Hewitt to say something to me that is going to hurt me, knowing him, he might.

"I'm beginning to think you like hanging out with me more than you like hanging out with your best friend" Spade's voice made me turn to look at him, he was looking at me, no judgement in his eyes, just this calm, relaxed look.
I sighed out and looked at Stefano, he had his eyes on me, he gave me a sad smile and I just pressed my lips together, Spade's right, it's not like I'm avoiding Stefano on purpose or that I don't want to hang out with him, I just don't want to make things weird, and uncomfortable for him.

I don't want him to think that he has to choose between Hewitt and I, and if I keep hanging out around him, then that's what's going to happen, he's going to think I want him to choose between the both of us.

I looked away from Stefano and looked at Spade, he still had his eyes on me "Nate thinks you have a crush on me" he muttered, causing me to frown as my eyes moved back to where Nate was standing, he was a little tipsy because he was swaying in his steps, and he was laughing obnoxiously with anyone and everyone who made a slight joke

I looked back at Spade and cocked my brows at him, I don't know if it was the drinks or I was just being very bold, but I opened my mouth and I couldn't close it again "maybe I do" I muttered out and Spade just cracked up half a smile, it wasn't very visible, but I could see it, he raised his brows up at me "do you want me to"? I asked again, and this time he smiled completely, showing a part of his teeth, I couldn't help the way my heart skipped a beat, if I thought Spade was attractive before, then I was wrong, seeing him smile, I realized that Spade is nothing short of sexy, attractive, handsome and beautiful, all in one sentence.

He looked at me again, with the smile still tugging at his lips "are you flirting with me"? He asked and I just shrugged

"Do you want me to"? I whispered and he just bit his lips, and for a split second, I could feel his hard and stoic resolve falter, even the great Spade could get flustered over a few flirt words, I wanted to smile at that.
