'Hello? Who is this?' A familiar voice on the other end of the line said. A smile immediately grew on Sara's face. 'Hi, It's me, Sara.' She said on her phone. It was the middle of the day and Sara was actually surprised that she answered her call. She herself was at work too. She was in the back of the restaurant eating her lunch, not being able to stop thinking. Sara had been threading for days. Since the meeting in the bar, she couldn't keep her eyes off the little piece of paper, pinned against the wall in her apartment. She had been staring at it so much that she knew the numbers backwards and forwards. It was Friday and she couldn't stop thinking about Ivy. 'Oh hi, I was wondering when you were gonna call. I almost thought you were gonna ghost me or something.' Ivy's happy voice echoed into Sara's ear. 'No, I wasn't, I promise.' Sara kind of was. She just needed time to realise what was going on. And even now, she had no idea what she was doing.
'I just wanted to ask you something.' She added. 'And?' Ivy pushed once she got no immediate answer. 'And I was wondering if you'd go to dinner with me.' Sara eventually said. She had asked a woman, a woman, on a date with her. 'That's if you're free tonight. If you aren't, we can always do it another time.' Sara felt her skin glow, getting warmer and warmer. 'No, tonight is perfect. I would love that.' Sara felt her body get lighter, relaxing a little more. 'Great, Text me your address and I'll pick you up at 7.' Ivy agreed and they said goodbye. Sara could only stare out in front of her, in shock about what she just did. 'New boyfriend?' her colleague asked, quickly looking up from her phone. She snapped back to reality. 'Yes, I mean no. Yes... It's complicated.' She stuttered. Her colleague gave her a look and Sara rolled her eyes before walking out.
The doorbell rang and Ivy looked at her watch. It was exactly 7 PM. She opened the door. There she was. Sara was wearing a Maroon red dress that went down to her knees with Black heels and a black handbag. 'Hi, you look beautiful.' Ivy told her. 'Thank you, you look amazing too.' She responded. She was right. Ivy was wearing a mint green dress with tiny white flowers. The dress was long sleeved and the dark green belt fitted great with her green eyes. She had her chocolate Brown hair in a cute, messy bun and she had a small purse hanging over her shoulder. 'Are you ready to go?' Sara asked. Ivy nodded and closed her apartment door.
They got in Sara's car. 'So where are we going?' Ivy asked her. 'I made a reservation at that restaurant on Rainwood street. Sorry, I keep forgetting the name. I think it was Monto- something.' Ivy laughed. 'You mean Montorosso?' She asked. 'Yes, Montoroose, that one.' The fact that Sara couldn't pronounce it, made Ivy laugh even harder. 'No, Montorosso. Not Montoroose.' Sara tried again. 'Monto- what? Motorsosso, Motor- Monto... You know nevermind.' She eventually gave up, a little annoyed. Ivy kept giggling. 'Anyways.' She changed the subject. The drive took about 15 minutes. The date went great. They talked and laughed the whole time. They ordered three courses and drank almost a whole bottle of wine together. Sara drank not as much, because she still had to drive them home.
'I really enjoyed this.' Ivy said when they were walking back to the car. 'Me too, Maybe you could do it again some time.' 'Yea, I would like that. Let me know when you are free. They got in the car and drove to Ivy's apartment. They looked at each other. 'It's a bummer that tonight is already over.' Ivy hinted. Sara understood the hint loud and clear, but felt a little held back. 'I know, let me walk you upstairs.' She avoided the conversation. They both got out of the car and walked upstairs. Ivy kept talking on the way over, but Sara was stuck in her head. She began to like Ivy more and more and it was making her go insane about it. She didn't want this day to be over already eighter. Ivy stopped at her apartment door and opened it. She stepped in and looked back at Sara. The door was only half open, but Ivy's eyes told her that she didn't want to shut it in her face.
'You really don't want to come in?' She asked again. Sara hesitated. She looked past her into a neat apartment. She wanted to shake her head, but she didn't. Why couldn't she come in? The past 2 hours had made it very clear that she wasn't like Kai. Her heart, followed with the rest of her body, wanted to follow her, but her head didn't. She was overthinking this way too much. 'How will you ever be able to keep a relationship with anyone if you can't even walk into their house?' She thought to herself.
She smiled at Ivy. 'Fine, I'd love to.' She finally said. She saw Ivy's eyes shine. Ivy opened the door a further and let her in. Her head was screaming, but that stopped once she stepped over the doorstep. Ivy closed the door behind her. 'Do you want something to drink?' She asked. 'Some water would be good.' Sara responded. Ivy filled two glasses with water. She walked up to Sara and handed her a glass, almost standing against her. 'Thank you.' Sara said a little flirtier than before. 'No problem.' Ivy said back in the same kind of voice. They both took a couple sips, not breaking eye contact. They just stared into each other's eyes for a minute, which felt like a lifetime.
'Can I kiss you?' Ivy asked, whispering. She was talking very very softly, but they were standing so close together that Sara could hear it clear enough. Instead of answering by saying yes or nodding her head, she decided to steal that moment. Without hesitating, she placed her lips gently on Ivy's. Ivy immediately kissed her back. They placed their hands on the other to stay close as they got more intense. Sara felt her stomach tingling from the butterflies. She tasted Ivy's lip. They were even softer than she expected. They fitted perfectly together. Ivy was only two or three inches smaller than Sara, so they could easily reach each other's lips.
They just kissed for a couple more minutes, before Ivy started pushing Sara towards her bedroom. She threw Sara on the bed. Then Ivy threw herself on her again. It had been a long time since Sara did something like that. And the last time was with a man, just like all the other times. Did Ivy even know that, or did she think she was already gay? She quickly broke the kiss and started to laugh. Ivy smiled too. 'I'm sorry.' She giggled. 'But I've never done something like this before. Not with a girl.' She explained. Ivy smiled even harder. 'Don't worry, I'm a good teacher.' She responded before continuing kissing her. Sara kissed her back, glad she understood. It was amazing. Both really enjoyed each other. It was like Sara could finally breathe again. Like she had been stuck in one place not being able to move forward.
