" What the hell? ," Andrew said in disbelief as he leaned forward and stared at the tv in the bedroom he and Glory were resting in at Gerald and Alfred's house. He turned to look at Glory who appeared to be horrified as she stared at the television.

Glory then glanced over at him with too much worry on her face. " Dear God, Andrew, what has that girl done now ? They say she hit children ! And one is Theodore's boyfriend ! And..... someone died...... Oh God..... What has she done now? "

Andrew shook his head. He didn't practice law anymore but he still knew and remembered enough to know his stepdaughter was in very deep and very bad trouble. His hand reached for his wife's hand.  She didn't need this right now. She was already fighting cancer. She did not need or deserve her daughter on trial. And how would he , they , ever tell Alfred? As much as they fought Alfred did love his younger sister. Family was very important to Alfred and Glory.

Glory said softly," I've been a terrible mother to Dodie. I have to admit I do prefer Alfred. He is my sweet sensitive smart one. My pal. And, yes , his issues did have me more involved with him growing up. I wanted the best for him. I wanted him to have as many opportunities open to him as he could. If I hadn't been as involved his father would have had him in a special home. He already had picked one out. It was a horrible place. More a prison to hide what some consider embarrassments than a place to help anyone. My son was never going there. Maybe though I should have, I don't know, been there more for Dodie. She was always more Franco's daughter though. Than mine. High school we fought tooth and nail. About everything. I can't help wondering where I went wrong. "

Andrew pulled her closer against him. "Don't blame yourself. We do our best by our children, don't we , and hope for the best but sometimes get the worst. I should know. I have Lorraine in California who probably wouldn't come to my funeral. "

Glory sniffed. " Today I was blessed to keep my son yet two other mothers might lose one or both of theirs. What's that Spencer says ? What are the odds of that ? "
