" My mum is pregnant," Nigel said with a sigh as he settled down in bed next to Richard who was trying to unwind with a good Just Landry thriller novel he had been meaning to finish for the longest time. " She's fifty one and pregnant. With my father's baby. "

Richard looked over his reading glasses at his husband's perplexed young face. "I wasn't even aware they were ..... well seeing each other. In that way. Were you? "

Nigel shrugged and sighed. " No. Of course not. I'm not sure I want them as a couple. I'm not at all certain that Dad is totally over Jenessa yet. But Mum wants me to..... I don't know..... talk to Dad for her. Convince him to marry her."

Richard sighed and put the book down on the nightstand and took off his glasses to place them next to the book. Then he turned to look again at Nigel." You need to...."

Nigel laughed. " I know, I know. Stay out of it. After all my parents are adults. Old enough to..... do whatever they are doing. I just can't believe it. My mum is pregnant with my dad's baby. "

Richard laughed and hugged Nigel, saying," Thank God my mother can't get pregnant by her latest husband Reilly Arnett. The last thing she needs is another baby. I don't recall much of her but what I do isn't all that good. "

Nigel laughed at the very idea of the cold and snobby Doris Arnett being pregnant in her mid sixties. Then he shivered.

They were still laughing as Lewis stepped through their opened bedroom door. His face looked too serious for only thirteen and his grey eyes filled with murky  shadows. He also had bags under his eyes because he hadn't been sleeping well lately since the school shooting.

Richard asked swiftly," Son , what is it ? Are you alright? "

Nigel murmured," Another nightmare, Lew ? "

Lewis said simply," I'm not going to that therapist tomorrow. I don't need her. I'm okay. I'm not crazy. "

Richard said," Son , going to a therapist doesn't make you crazy. It just means you need to....."

" I'm not crazy ," Lewis yelled at them both, startling his father and stepfather. " Just leave me alone. I'm ok. "

Then he ran out of the bedroom into his own room and threw himself on his bed to begin sobbing.
