The REBEL Show
In a large spacious studio in the nation's capitol Washington DC's Georgetown area a large group of people , mostly women of varying races , sat clapping enthusiastically and passionately as the loud bouncy talk show's recorded theme music belted out with the sound of Rebel's own voice singing out ," I'm just a country boy that finally reached for the stars. And the moon too. Come ride with me ! "
As the audience rose to their feet, yelling happily and clapping still , some chanting out " Rebel , Rebel ! " the man in question Rebel came running out on the heart shaped stage under a shimmering spotlight in a light blue linen suit and silk tee shirt that proclaimed " Black Lives Matter ! ", his long blond hair pulled back in his usual braid down his trim back , his unique multi colored eyes ( one blue and one green) twinkling merrily as he came to a stop before the screaming audience. Rebel smiled brightly and blew them all a kiss before he did an elaborate bow.
Rebel : Thank you ! Thank you ! I really don't deserve this. I love you all ! Have we got a show for you today. My staff , my hardworking staff , led by my producer Sandy , Sandy the beautiful lady that can get shit done, the only one besides Dom and my manager Bailey who can control my Rock God ass , have been excellent with this particular show. I mean, they worked their asses off ! Please, please give it up , give all the props and the respect to my wonderful staff !
The audience, again in their seats , began to clap once more enthusiastically. Rebel , still smiling , ran on his expensive sneakered feet over to his rainbow colored chair and sat down, crossing his legs.
Rebel : Thank you , Sandy , thank you all. I couldn't do it without you all. You make me look good. ( He laughed. ) Now we got something magnificent, something fun , planned for you today. We got a party planned for you today. Which is why underneath your seats I have a party pack just for you. A party hat , a box of imported chocolate covered cherries , homemade blueberry scones fresh from local Bethesda Maryland restaurant Richard and Nigel's and a bottle of champagne. Of course I included corkscrews. ( He winked and laughed. ) Today we are doing our first ever but not our last annual edition of a little something I call DMV Got Talent. We got the most talented singers ever to grace this stage today. Really ! They make me and my bestie Reese sound like we strangling frogs !
The audience laughed.
Rebel : And , we have some special judges today as well. Internationally renowned investigative reporter Scott Sands of the Washington Reign , River Talbot CEO of Luna Goddess Cosmetics and gospel music sensation Mother Maddie ! Give it up for the judges !
The audience laughed and clapped before eagerly putting on their party hats and reaching for their champagne bottles.
Rebel : The winner of this bout of fun will receive a grand prize of twenty five thousand dollars and also the opportunity to sing on my next album Rebel's Star Ride. By the way Reese Malden will be featured on the new album. He didn't disappear, y'all. He still alive ! Our first contestant is a pretty sassy bubbly, I mean she has energy, I heard her all the way to my house, woman with Maryland roots but she has also lived in the south. Well you know I'm from Arkansas so I may be a little partial here. I'm just a country boy at heart. I'll always be just Ricky Joe Gibson. But let me shut the hell up and y'all give it up for Miss Nettie Jean Benson singing an originally written song entitled " Just A Country Gal ".
The audience clapped politely as Nettie Jean came running out on the stage in a bright pink sequined silk shirt that had the words I Love Rebel embossed across the front of her huge chest and tight blue denim jeans. In her hands she carried her battered old guitar. She went over to Rebel first and gave him a wet noisy kiss on his startled lips before moving over to the part of the stage near the band.
Nettie Jean smiled prettily at the audience. " Thank you so much ! I'm just so delighted to be on Rebel ! He's my favorite singer. I may be a country gal but I have a little rock and roll in me too."
She began to strum on her guitar, her fingers moving along expertly, as her light clear voice lifted up to sing out ," I may just be a country gal but that's not all I got in me. "
