Aiden Norris was taking out the trash that night when he saw the man who had been starring in too many of his dreams lately.
Spencer Norland - Lane. He was crossing the street in his wheelchair and waving at him with a soft smile on his very attractive face. God , Aiden thought to himself, as he stepped back from the trash cans. Why was the man as attractive as he was? And , why did he affect him quite as much as he did? He had to keep reminding himself that the sweet smart former professor was married to a very big doctor who glared at him every time he saw him outside. The last thing he wanted was a run in with a new neighbor. And, DuBuis Lane would be in the right too. Aiden was the very last one to be lusting after another man's husband really. After all , why would he want anyone else to hurt like he had after he found Gary in bed with his supposed to be just colleague and friend?
" Hello , Spence. " He smiled gently at the man who came to a stop before him. God. The man smelled so nice. And , his eyes were so very blue behind his glasses. Even his glasses were cute on him.
Stop , he commanded himself. Married. Spencer was married. Taken. Had kids. Not interested in him. Which meant he should just stay away.
" Hello, Aiden. I've been meaning to ask you something but life has been so very busy lately. I , well , my husband and I, we were wondering if you and your family were coming to dinner on Friday? This Friday? " For some odd reason the man sounded very nervous and his eyes wouldn't meet his own. " I sent you the email but.... I guess you're busy too. Moving in. And all. "
Aiden had gotten it. He had meant to respond but didn't know what to say. He didn't mind dinner again but not with the husband and everyone else. He wanted to dine with Spencer again. Which was incredibly dangerous thinking.
" Yes ," he coughed. " I received it. I mentioned it to my Granny. She's interested in getting together with you all. I think it's good for A. J. as well. He mentioned meeting your niece. Your husband's niece. At school. They're in the same classes I believe. He likes her. "
Spencer smiled brightly and their eyes met. " I'm glad. Luci is a good person. I'm sure they'll be excellent friends. Sol too. He's our.... well , I don't know what Sol is to us. A foster son I guess? And, Theodore, my nephew, but he is a little older than the others. He's in high school. I'm babbling. Sorry. So you are all coming? On Friday? "
Aiden was lost in the man's eyes to the point he didn't really hear his words. "Yes ," he said softly. Then , before he knew what he was doing or could stop himself, he leaned down and claimed the man's lips in a soft gentle kiss. A kiss that strangely enough he felt Spencer responding to briefly before the man broke it off and backed his chair up.
Spencer's eyes were now wide open with fascination and wonder and surprise. They blinked as his cheeks flushed red. " Dinner is fine," Spencer said tightly. " But don't do that again. Please. I'm married. I love my husband. Friends is all we can be, Aiden. "
Aiden felt like the biggest fool in the world. He wished he could just disappear. Especially because he suddenly looked across the street and saw someone watching them with a big shit eating grin on her face.
