Zipp looked over at Ethan who was going through some case files as they enjoyed the lunch of finely sliced roast beef sandwiches and garden salads the lawyer had had delivered from Richard and Nigel's.

Ethan pulled off his reading glasses and glanced at him with questions in his eyes. " About what? The doctor explained the whole surgery. Once you get my kidney on Monday you'll begin recovering and so will I. If you remember to take the anti rejection medicine there should be no issue for you. And you better remember it. "

Zipp smiled slightly as he eased his bed up. " No. I understand all that. It's not me I'm worried about. It's you. "

Ethan shrugged at him. " Don't worry about me. It's not necessary, Zennis. "

Zipp cut his eyes at him. " The hell it isn't. You're just as important to me as you say I am to you, Ethan Stone. Right now besides my parents and the company I don't have anything else in my life besides you. What if something happens during surgery? What if something happens to you after..... You'll only have one kidney......."

Ethan smiled faintly. " Well , you had only one kidney since birth and got along just fine until Flower decided to stab you. Life is dangerous, Zipp. If those people hadn't interrupted in the garage Pamela Perkins would have finished strangling me and I would not be here right now. We cannot live by fear and what ifs. At least not about things like this. " He reached out to touch Zipp's worried face. " It will be fine. I've checked the record of the surgeon doing our operations. She's good. Damn good. Zipp loved this man so much. Nobody had ever done something like this for him before. He was not a religious person. Neither he nor Flower had been. But right now he hoped there was a God or angels or some sort of supreme holy being to protect and watch over this man before him.

Ethan sat back in his chair with a sigh. " I just talked to Amanda. Jeremiah is with Nicole at the station. I don't think they'll put many serious charges on her with her age and the whole nature of this situation. At least I hope they won't. I do know for a fact Richard has declared a mistrial. So Dodie Angeletti is a free woman until charges are refiled once again. "

" She's still in a coma? "

" To my knowledge, yes. And , according to the news her coma wasn't due to her own actions. Someone tried to kill Dodie Angeletti in the jail. "
