[CAUSE]
LUNA'S P. O. V.
A few days had passed since we returned to the island. I couldn't help but notice that some people still couldn't bring themselves to talk to Denver after what he had done to us. He had betrayed them long ago, and it was understandable why they would feel such deep disappointment and anger towards him.
"Kumusta ka?" I looked to my side, seeing a handsome man sitting next to me.
He had no idea how much more irresistible he became when he wore all his earrings. There was something about the look that just made him even more attractive. Of course, I'd never tell him that—he might wear them all the time, and I'd find myself drowning deeper in my feelings for him.
I scolded him, eyeing him sternly.
He pouted, crossing his arms and legs as he stared out ahead. "Concern na nga ako, nasermunan pa."
I turned to face him, resting my hands on the space between us. "Well, that's because you keep pushing yourself too hard!
Besides, Panotchi's busy with the knights and trying to balance everything out since we're getting closer to the real fight."
I swallowed hard. His words brought back what Kuya Zeke had told me before, that he could feel the real battle approaching. I knew it would all come down to a fight, but... was I ready? Were we ready?
"May problema nga tayo, eh," he added quietly, averting his gaze. His brows furrowed as he closed his eyes tightly, muttering a curse under his breath—clearly, he hadn't meant to say that.
"Ano naman 'yon?" I asked, leaning in slightly para makita nang mas maigi ang mukha niya, Our gazes locked. I narrowed my eyes at him.
Makuha ka sa tingin.
"Ayaw mo magsalita?" When he stayed silent, I started to pull my hand away, but he grabbed it again, and put it on his lap.
"We can't join the battle if there's a gang war," he confessed.
My eyes widened in shock. "Huh? Bakit?"
"We need to be members of a gang to participate. We could have joined a gang, but apparently, the deadline for accepting or recruiting new members has already ended." Paliwanag niya habang pinipisil-pisil ang kamay ko.
I bit my lip in frustration. "Do you think Kuya and the others know about this?"
"They're gang leaders, so they probably do."
