I don't think there's going to be a second date with Ravi. After being aloof for the entire evening, I told him I wasn't feeling well after I ran away from Dan and then I practically fled the restaurant. Haven't heard much from him since and he hasn't been to Love and Latte's again.
But that's fine. Though it may not have had a real chance, I wasn't really feeling it anyway. It's probably a better idea to keep men out of my life for a little longer anyway. I don't need him and I definitely don't need Dan.
Of course I can't stop thinking about him since I ran into him. Truth is, I never stopped thinking about him in the first place, no matter how much I tried.
He wants to talk to me one more time? I get it. I'm sure he feels guilty and he wants to talk it out so he can move on and be fine. Well, it's not my responsibility to make him feel better. He's the one that screwed everything up even if he had the best intentions.
Tonight, I won't be thinking about him, that's for sure. Because it's my favorite night of the year. It's Halloween!
'You should come,' I tell Mel for the 50th time. 'It's going to be fun.'
'Absolutely not,' she responds, shoving some more popcorn into her mouth. 'I've got my own party going on here. Besides, Luke is coming.'
That's right. Mel has a boyfriend! After our date, it was clear that nothing else was going to happen between me and Luke. But I really did think he was a great guy, and I promised him the next night out would be on me.
Then, I had the most genius idea of my life. Because when I took some time to think about it, I realized that though he may not be for me, he would be perfect for Mel. So I invited him to hang out with the two of us. And I was right. The two of them hit it off from the start. Though Mel felt a little weird about dating a guy that I shared a night of intense making out with, she agreed to try it out after I assured her that it wouldn't be weird.
I was wrong. It was a little weird. But they connected so well that they managed to get over it. And they've been dating for about two months now. They're the cutest couple ever.
'So? He can come too.'
'You're welcome to stay.'
The back and forth is just a part of our yearly tradition. Each year, I start off the holiday with a scary movie night with Mel. Spooky snacks, blood red wine, candlelight, and everything. I was sad to miss it last year, because I was away at med school. So I'm very happy to be doing it again now.
Every time, when we're about to finish the movie, I try to convince her to come with me to whatever party I'm going to. Because that's the second part of my Halloween. I put on a costume and I go wild. Of course, Mel never actually joins me.
'How are you going again?' she asks me.
'As an angel,' I say, blinking innocently.
'Suits you,' she says sarcastically.
'Well, a slutty angel.'
'Makes more sense.'
I laugh and grab a pillow to throw it at her. She's just quick enough to raise her arms to shield herself.
'I am going out for a night of innocent fun,' I say, putting on a pretentious voice. 'You, however, are inviting boys over straight to your house. I'm sure you'll be having a lot of "fun" watching those movies.'
I grin when Mel starts to blush. She's never been one to really talk about sex. All she told me was that it was "pretty nice", which I know must mean that it was mind-blowing.
