I groaned and shoved my face into Chris' chest. Every time the automatic hospital doors opened, the cold air came rushing in. I didn't want to go outside and be completely freezing. Chris chuckled as he wrapped his arms around me, "I know you're freezing. AJ should be here soon."

"I see him. He's with Ryan in the third SUV." Vinny said. I groaned, hoping Chris wouldn't make me go outside, but Chris just removed his arms from around me, "Come on, kitten."

I opened my eyes as Chris took one step back then lifted my hood up over my head. Chris gave me a warm half smile as he held his left arm up for me. I smiled back at him as I walked into his hide and he wrapped his arm around my shoulders, "It's going to be warm in the car and the house, so you don't have to be cold for too long."

Chris led me to the door, pulling me tightly into his side as it slid open to allow us to go into the cold. I closed my eyes and buried my face in Chris' side. I heard Chris chuckle as I let myself follow him with ease. Chris came to a stop after twenty seconds, "Get in."

I raised my head up from Chris' side to see Vinny sitting in the opposite side of the SUV, closing his door. I didn't hesitate in climbing into the SUV, scooting as close to Vinny as I could. Chris climbed in beside me, closing the door and shutting the cold out. Vinny pushed my hood off and unzipped the jacket before he did the same to himself, "It's a fucking sauna in here!"

"It is literally below freezing outside, Vin." AJ said in shock as he turned his head around to stare at Vinny who was sitting behind Ryan. Vinny held his hands up, "I don't want Melody to suffocate, though. We were barely outside for a few seconds."

Ryan chuckled as he turned a few knobs on the dash, "I wanted it to be warm for Melody. Your ass can walk if you want to complain about the sauna."

"How was the check up?" AJ asked as he straightened himself and faced forwards again while Ryan pulled away from the hospital doors. Vinny groaned and pulled his jacket off, "Horrible—"

"Melody is quite healthy, physically, other than being underweight and malnourished. As long as she stays human, we need to ensure her scent stays covered and keep her safe, since she has a slice of angel in her blood. The doctor said anyone who knows the scent or taste could catch it." Chris said, the last sentence monotonous. I could see Ryan quickly move his eyes from the road to look at Chris and I in the rear view mirror as AJ quickly turned his head to look at Ryan. Chris pulled a large yellow envelope from the inside of his coat before he wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him as if he was worried I would vanish. I leaned into Chris, letting my head fall against his shoulder.

"She has angel in her?" Ryan asked softly.

"Yes. I think he said she has 1/6th angel in her blood. It's how Melody has connected with us. She wanted us to care about her, so she opened her soul up to us, which caused us to open our souls to her." Chris replied.

AJ gave a small chuckle, "That isn't so horrible, Vin. Why did you say it was horrible?"

Chris tightened his arm around me, "We forced Melody into her biggest fear. She was more than terrified—"

"My heart shattered as I held her while she sobbed, thinking the nurse that was taking her blood was killing her. She hasn't seen good doctors." Vinny said, putting his hand on my thigh, palm up. I quickly grabbed his hand and held it, grateful for the extra comfort coming over me. "Like Chris has already told you, Melody, you aren't going to be dying anytime soon."

I gave Vinny's hand a tight squeeze, letting my heavy eyelids close. Chris held me against him as I held onto Vinny's hand. AJ and Ryan were also with us, so I felt completely safe and comfortable. None of these guys would let anything get close enough to me to hurt me or take me away from them. I knew Ricky and Justin cared about me, too. I was starting to see they weren't lying. I lifted Bash up, propping his head on my right shoulder and holding him gently as I let my mind drift off. It felt like I had just closed my eyes when I opened my eyes again, but I wasn't sure where we were. The car wasn't outside anymore, but was inside. AJ was shaking Chris to wake him up. I woke up at the sound of Ryan closing the driver's door of the car, which made AJ think he woke me up, "Oh fuck, Melody, sorry."
