Chapter 25: Unraveling
Just as Y/N began to settle into her thoughts, her phone buzzed on the table. She picked it up, and her heart sank as she saw her agent’s name flashing on the screen. Taking a deep breath, she answered, “Hey.”
“Y/N! What were you thinking?” her agent’s voice boomed through the speaker, sharp and frantic. “You didn’t tell me you were posting that song! We have a strategy for these things!”
Y/N’s stomach dropped. “I just wanted to share it. I thought—”
“No, you can’t just do that without consulting me! This is about your brand, and you need to be more careful!”
Each word felt like a blow, tightening the grip of anxiety in Y/N’s chest. “I—I didn’t mean to cause any trouble,” she stammered, her heart racing.
“Trouble? This could have serious repercussions! You need to think about your image!”
As the conversation continued, Y/N felt herself spiraling. The weight of the world pressed down on her, the combination of the earlier emotions and her agent's shouting becoming too much to handle.
“I need to go,” she finally managed to say before hanging up, tears spilling down her cheeks.
“Y/N?” Billie called from the other room, having overheard part of the call. She rushed in to find Y/N trembling, her face pale.
“It’s too much,” Y/N choked out, her breath quickening. “I can’t—”
Before she knew it, panic surged through her, each breath becoming shallow and rapid. Billie instinctively moved closer, pulling her into a tight embrace. “I’ve got you, Y/N. Just breathe with me.”
Finneas joined them, wrapping his arms around both sisters. “Focus on us, okay? Inhale… and exhale. Just like that.”
Slowly, Y/N began to calm, the warmth of her siblings grounding her. After a few moments, the panic subsided, leaving her feeling drained but safe in their arms.
“I’m sorry,” Y/N whispered, wiping her tears. “I just feel so lost.”
“You don’t have to apologize,” Billie said softly, brushing Y/N’s hair back. “We’re here for you, no matter what.”
“Let’s have a movie night,” Finneas suggested, trying to lighten the mood. “Just the three of us. A break from everything.”
Y/N nodded, grateful for the distraction. They settled on the couch with blankets and snacks, a familiar comfort enveloping them. As the movie played, Y/N found herself sinking into the warmth of her siblings, the worries of the world momentarily fading away.
But eventually, fatigue took over, and Y/N’s eyes grew heavy. She snuggled closer to Finneas, falling asleep against him, the chaos of the day drifting away.
Once Y/N was sound asleep, Billie and Finneas exchanged a glance, their concern for her evident.
“We need to talk about her song,” Billie said quietly, pulling out her notebook. “It’s clear she’s struggling, and we need to help her find her voice again.”
“Agreed,” Finneas replied, flipping through some chords on his guitar. “Let’s start working on this new song. It might give her something to look forward to.”
As they began brainstorming ideas, the creative energy flowed between them, a hopeful counterbalance to the weight of Y/N’s struggles. They crafted melodies and lyrics, pouring their hearts into the music, hoping it would serve as a light in Y/N’s darkness.
With each note they played, they knew they were creating something special—not just for their fans, but for their sister, too. A reminder that even in the toughest times, love and music could heal.
