Chapter 64: Another Blow

Just as Y/N had started to calm down, her phone buzzed on the nightstand, piercing the moment of quiet. The vibrations cut through the stillness of the room, pulling her attention away from the warm comfort of Billie and Finneas’s arms.

For a second, she didn’t move. She didn’t want to. But something in her stomach twisted, an anxious knot forming as her mind raced with possibilities. After everything she had gone through, the idea of looking at her phone again was terrifying. But ignoring it felt worse.

Hesitantly, she reached for the phone, unlocking it with shaky hands. Billie and Finneas stayed close, watching her with concern as her expression shifted from curiosity to confusion, then something worse.

Her heart sank as she read the message. Her agent had quit. There, in plain text, was a sudden, cold message about the end of their professional relationship. The notification felt surreal, like a punch to the gut, but it didn’t stop there.

"What's wrong?" Finneas asked, his voice gentle but worried.

Y/N didn't respond right away, her thumb tapping through a few more notifications. Her eyes widened when she saw the reasoning posted online—an official statement. Except it wasn’t the truth. The post painted her as unprofessional, difficult to work with, someone no one wanted to represent. The lies felt like an assault on everything she had worked for.

"They posted it," Y/N finally muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. "They’re saying... they're saying I'm horrible to work with. That no one wants to be around me."

Billie leaned in, quickly reading over Y/N’s shoulder. "What the hell?" she muttered, the anger building in her voice. "That’s not true! They can't just... do that."

"They are," Y/N whispered, her throat tightening. "And now everyone’s going to believe it. It’s out there. People are going to think I’m... impossible. No one will work with me."

Her voice broke, the weight of it all suddenly crashing down on her. Losing her agent was one thing, but the public statement? It twisted the knife deeper, making it seem like Y/N was the problem. It was a blatant attack on her character, and she felt completely powerless to stop it.

Finneas ran his hand through his hair, pacing as he tried to think. "We can fix this. We have to. This isn’t you. Anyone who knows you knows this is garbage."

Y/N dropped her phone onto the bed, pulling her knees to her chest. "But people are going to believe it, Finneas. Everyone always believes the worst about me. I don't know how to fix this... I don't even know how to navigate my music now. No one’s going to want to work with me."

Billie reached out, placing a comforting hand on her sister's back. "We’ll figure this out. You’re not alone in this, Y/N. We can talk to someone, maybe a lawyer, and get this statement taken down."

"But it’s already out there," Y/N muttered, her voice shaky. "It’s online, and that means it’s everywhere. It’s not going away."

Finneas stopped pacing, his jaw tight with frustration. "We’ll push back. People know you’re talented, they know your music, and they’ll see through this eventually. It’s just... it's another hurdle. But we’ll get through it."

Y/N didn’t say anything. She could barely process what was happening, the whirlwind of emotions spiraling through her. Everything felt like it was crumbling—her reputation, her career, the music she had poured her soul into. How could she move forward now, when it felt like everything was stacked against her?

"We’re going to get you through this," Billie said firmly, pulling Y/N closer. "It’s not fair, and it’s not right, but you’ve got us. You don’t have to deal with this alone."

Tears stung Y/N’s eyes as she leaned into Billie’s embrace, her body shaking with the weight of it all. She wanted to believe them, wanted to trust that everything would be okay. But right now, it felt like she was sinking, and there was no way out.

As Finneas sat down beside them, he clenched his jaw, determined to find a way to help his sister. "We’re going to handle this, Y/N. No matter what it takes, we’ve got your back. Always."

The three of them sat together in silence, the heaviness of the situation pressing down on them all. Y/N was lost in her thoughts, wondering how she would ever recover from this, but for the first time in a long time, she didn’t feel entirely alone. She had Billie and Finneas by her side, and maybe, just maybe, that was enough to get her through the storm.
