Pick your poison

Kai's POV

I am getting really worried about Pae. she has been sick for 2 weeks and Kitt had to postpone the first trial. she was moved to the hospital wing about a week ago when she started puking blood and fainting. when she first got sick I thought she was pregnant but this is something else. the healers are trying everything but she just keeps getting worse not better. the last few nights I have had to sleep by myself and I have cried a few times.  I can't lose her I need her. 

I am walking to the hospital wing to see her. when I get there she is laying on a bed looking pale as fuck. her hair is still braided from when I did it yesterday, it is a lot harder to braid short hair than I thought. the dark circles under her eyes tell me she hasn't slept in a few days. I would sleep with her but the healers told me I can't sleep in her bed. 

I take a deep breath before putting on my calm mask. "hello darling" I say going into the room and sitting next to her on the bed. I look down at her and she looks worse up close but I force myself to stay calm. she looks up at me as I gently put my hands on her cheek and I lean down to kiss her forehead. "how are you feeling my love?"

"I feel fine" she says softly. I know she is lying to  me because it is obvious she is not feeling fine. "I love you, you know that right?" 

"I know and I love you too" I say quietly 

"Kai," she takes my hand and kisses it softly and I know what she is about to say. "I love you, I always have and I always will." a small tear slips out of her eye. "if something happens to me I want you to move on" 

I take my hand out of hers and I put it on my face. "stop saying things like that nothing is going to happen." I turn back to her and I put my hands on her cheeks "you are going to be fine. we are going to get married and get out of this damn castle and we are going to have a family. nothing is going to happen to you because I will kill you if you die" 

tears are coming out of both of our eyes now. "Kai please listen to me" 

I stand up and walk to the door. "no I am not listening to you because you are going to be fine. I am not doing this again. i am not losing a very important woman in my life for the third time. i need some air"

before she can answer i walk out of the room. as i am walking down the hall trying to stop the tears an imperial comes up to me. "sir?" 

"what the hell do you want?" i ask a little more harsh than i should.

"sir there is a maid who was caught putting poison in lady Paedyn's food. this would explain why she is so sick and sir the maid said she deserved to be with you not lady Paedyn when she was caught." his words make me freeze. that is the last thing I was expecting him to say. I am going to kill that maid myself but I will let her pick her poison.

sorry this one is a little short. I hope you guys love it. sorry if I tricked you with giving her pregnancy symptoms. comment if I should make it even more spicy with the maid being someone Kai slept with years ago.
