breathless |A Powerless Fanfiction

Trial 1 day 4 and 5

Kai's POV

she screams so loud blood coming out of her ears and nose. hands on her head almost like she is hearing some terrible sound. I run over to her and catch her as she falls out of the tree. she is unconscious when I gently set her on the ground, just barely breathing. "Pae? wake up please! Pae?!" I shout trying to wake her up.

27 hours earlier

"A tree is where it be" Paedyn says looking at her note "wow Kitt so original" she laughs. 

so it turns out Pae has the note with the clue and the clue sucks. we could probably do better without it but whatever.  we are walking through the forest while she looks at the note. I grab her left hand and I hold it as we walk. my fingers automatically go to her ring finger and I realize her ring isn't there. I pull her hand up so quickly she actually jumps. "what the hell did you do to your ring?" I ask as I look at her hand. 

"Jesus, Kai don't scare me like that. I thought you saw someone coming at us or something" she says. "and to answer your question they took it off before I was dropped off at the damn beach, calm down I will get it back." 

I put her hand back down and we keep walking. "if they don't give it back I will kill someone" I say bluntly. 

"you're such an ass" she laughs. 

we walk for a while until I see the sun starting to set. "Pae we should stop for the night and make a fire" I say and she nods. we find a spot to stop for the night, it is on a soft patch of grass there aren't trees so we can actually sleep under the stars. is this the safest choice? no. do I care? no.  I get wood and start a fire while she goes and gets a rabbit.

once the sun is gone and our food Is eaten we are just sitting here with her in my arms. I get bored so I stand up and reach my hand out for her. "may I have this dance Gray?" she smiles and takes my hand standing up. one hand holds hers and my other hand goes to her waist. we start to sway to the pretend music and I can see a sight watching us but I could care less at this point. "do you remember when we did this last time?" I ask looking into her beautifully blue eyes. 

"yes I do" she smiles looking into my eyes. "I also remember you not having a shirt on but I guess you can have one on" she rolls her eyes playfully 

"well I remember you hating me" I say as I spin her before pulling her back into my arms. 

"I never really hated you Azer I just simply didn't like you at first." she says wrapping both her arms around my neck. 

both of my hands go to her hips. "oh sure, because you are totally believable" we continue to sway to the fake music. I put my hand on the back of her thigh and I dip her backwards lifting her leg in the air. as I dip her I look directly at the sight because I know Kitt will see this and I want to make him jealous. I pull her back up and her face gets so close to mine. I lick my lips and I am about to kiss her when. 

"you know we hate to be those people but we want your notes." ever goddamn time. I know that voice anywhere Russell Mills and if he said we that means, I turn around and see the Mills brothers looking at us. well shit this is going to be bad. 

(I don't really know how to write fighting... so sorry) 

"we aren't giving you them" Pae says coming to stand next to me. 

"well sorry then" Alexander says using his hydro powers to lift up a huge bubble of water and Russell uses his blazer Powers to boil the water. shit is about to get bad.  Pae goes stiff next to me.

4 burns, 2 cuts, and 5 bruises later I am pinning Russell to the ground with his own knife to his neck. Pae knocked out Alexander a few minutes ago and now she is sitting breathless on the ground wincing from the cuts and burns on her. "burn me and I will kill you" I tell Russell. he wont give up and I am afraid I might have to kill him. I get off of him and he gasps for air.  "get out of here and don't come back" I tell him and he gets up. once he runs away I look back and I see that Alexander is no longer on the ground and he is about to throw a knife at pae's back. I don't even think I immediately throw the knife I am holding and it lands in his chest. Pae jumps up as he falls to the ground.

after Paedyn cries in my arms for a few minutes I take Alexander's body and I bury it. he was a complete ass but he doesn't  deserve to lay there forever. 

I bury him then I go back to Pae. she is sitting next to the fire with her legs folded to her chest and she is carefully wiping the cut on her arms. my cuts aren't that bad but they definitely need to be cleaned. I sit next to her and she says nothing as she tears me off some of her shirt and hands it to me. we sit in silence and we clean our cuts and burns until her shirt is basically nothing so she just takes it off and she is wearing a sports bra. I hope she isn't mad at me for killing Alexander. 

she seems to read my mind and she looks at me. "I am not mad at you for killing him but I just need some time" she says and I nod. "this might be ruined" she says holding up her note that is covered in water. 

"its ok. it wasn't much help anyways." I say "but if we really need it, it might dry by the fire." 

she puts it next to the fire and almost immediately dark lines cover the back. the heat on the water must have activated it.  a map.

Pae's POV

"that looks like the tree on the map" Kai says as we walk up to a huge tree. when I look up I see a gold dagger hanging from one of the branches high up.  

last night was a lot and I am trying to forget about the fact that Alexander is dead. we haven't  talked about it and I don't want to. we said nothing after I said I wasn't mad and he hasn't said anything about it since then. 

"help me up to the first branch and I will go get it"  I say 

"Pae  let me go get it" he says and I give him a glare before he sighs and helps me onto the lowest branch. I climb up a few more branches before I look down at him he is staring at me with a weird look. 

"what the hell are you looking at?" I ask 

"oh nothing your ass just looks really good from down here" he says with a smirk 

"shut up Azer" I say as I continue climbing. 

 I make it to the top and I sit on a branch with the dagger right in front of me. I didn't know what the note meant by 'If you survive it' until I touched the dagger. all my worst memories and fears go flashing through my head. Adena's death, my fathers death, Kai dying, me becoming a murderer, and all my other fears and memories. I don't even know I am screaming until I fall from the tree and Kai catches me. then everything goes black.
