what does love feel like?

Kai's POV

I am on my way to Paedyn's room when I am stopped by Jax. as I walk past his room he opens the door and pulls me in pushing me so I sit on the bed. he paces in front of me as I sit here confused. "Jax what's-" I start talking but he cuts me off

"what does love feel like?" he asks and I am really shocked. I don't answer at first and when I am about to he cuts me off again. "you love Paedyn right?" I nod "how do you feel when you are around her. what does it feel like to be in love." 

I take a minute to think about the question. I don't want to tell him what my body does when I am around her for abvious reasons so I go for what it feels like in my heart. "well it feels like my heart will explode and it makes me want to do things... to her." he gives me a weird look but I continue "Love makes you want  to protect the person and keep them safe. you want to dance with them in the fire light and hold them when they are cold or sad. you would do anything that they asked, even chopping off their hair even though you love it so much. you dream about them and your insides get fuzzy when they talk and when you see them with another person you want to kill that person." when he gives me another weird look I think for a minute, "maybe the last one is just me" 

"I think I am in love with Octavia Goodwin" he says quietly as he sits on the ground with his back to the wall. I move off of his bed and I sit next to  him. 

"why do you sound so sad about it?" I ask as I lean my head against the wall. 

"because she is 2 years older than me and she is already dating someone from the slums" he pulls his knees to his chest and puts his head on them. 

"so? just because she might not love you right now doesn't mean she can't love you. look at me and Pae, she hated me and I hated her and now we are getting married" I still can't believe we are going to be married. "age doesn't matter and who wouldn't love you. you are great" I pat his back. 

"I really hope you are right. I am going to ask her if she wants to go to the balls with me because people will bleed if she goes with someone else" he says calmly 

"yep you love her" I laugh standing up. "I'm gonna go. I have to sneak into my girls room before someone stops me. make sure you protect your girl from the Mills brothers" 

"I will, thanks Kai" he says hugging me. I hug him back before I nod and leave. 

when I get to Pae's room I see the Mak dude leaving her room. he gives me one look before running down to his room. I rush to her room afraid he did something to her and when I open the door she has he head in her knees and she is crying. my first thought is I need to hunt that guy down and kill him but instead I close the door and I rush over to her. 

"Pae? darling what's wrong? did he do something to you?" I sit next to her and rub her back. she doesn't have any cuts or bruises from what I can see. 

"she was in love with him" she says through tears 

"who was in love with who?" 

"Adena was in love with Mak and she never told me"
