Trial 1 Ends

Kai's POV

Paedyn hasn't even looked at me for the last hour. a few hours after she touched the blade she woke up and cried in my arms for a few minutes then she wiped the blood off of her nose and ears and sat with her back to a tree and he head buried in her knees. that is how she has been sitting for the last hour. I am really worried about her because she hasn't said anything. she wont tell me what happened all she told me is to not touch the dagger thing. it is laying on the ground in front of me there is some kind of liquid on it. the healers must have put something on it to make her go into shock or something. I don't know. 

I finally stand up, tear a piece of my shirt and pick up the dagger so the liquid doesn't touch my skin. "what the hell are you doing? don't touch that" Paedyn says looking up at me with tears in her eyes before quickly wiping them away. she put on a mask just like I do. she is trying to act all tough but I can tell she is scared. 

I crouch in front of her. "there is some kind of liquid on it that makes you do whatever happened to you. I put fabric around it ok? can you tell me what happened?" I say quietly and she just shakes her head. "you can tell me when you are ready" I stand up and put my hand out for her. "lets go" she takes my hand and stands up.

the map in Paedyn's note also tells us where the stone is. the stone that we are supposed to bring the blade to in the middle of the night. we walk for a few hours in silence until we see the stone. Kitt and 10 imperials are waiting at the top. 

"ah the love birds" Kitt says sending the Imperials to get the blade. "Somehow I knew you would be the ones to bring it to me. how did you enjoy touching the dagger Paedyn?" he asks with a smirk. she glares at him but says nothing. "yes well.. you can go back to the palace now. we will get the healers to patch you up and you can get a good nights sleep." after he says that the imperials bring me a horse. It can't be that easy. he is just going to let us leave? no blood bath? 

I get on the horse and I pull Pae setting her In front of me. my hands purposely squeeze her thighs as we ride past my brother. it is obvious that these trials are not meant to be physically painful  like my fathers were, these trials are meant to be mentally painful. they are meant to mess with our mind... mess with Pae's mind mostly. this is her punishment for killing my father. this is why Kitt forgave her so easily when we first came back. he doesn't forgive her, her wants to mess with her and act like it is all for the 'fun' of the trials, and it is working.

once we get back to the castle I get off of the horse and I help Pae get off. as soon as I set her down on her feet she wraps her arms around me and hugs me tightly. "I love you so much. please don't ever leave me" she says resting her pretty little head on my shoulder. 

"Pae" I move her head away from my shoulder and I put my hands on her cheeks so she is looking into my eyes. "I'm not leaving you, I will never leave you. I love you more than anything. you are stuck with me" I say with a smile before I gently kiss her head and hug her again. 

"you promise?" she whispers 

"yes I promise. I love you with all my heart, soul and mind." 

after a few minutes of hugging an imperial takes the horse and we walk inside the castle. the healers heal our cuts, bruises and burns before they tell us we should get some rest. we walk back to her room and Pae immediately puts her wedding ring back on earning a grin from me. 

"you know we need to actually plan a wedding at some point" I say taking off my shirt and climbing into the bed. 

she changes into a night dress and climbs in bed next to me. "yeah I know but after the trials. I can't be having my honeymoon in a maze or on a mountain" she says blowing out the candle making the whole room dark and cuddling up next to me. 

I wrap my arms around her. "true, that would suck. we need to have a honeymoon where no one is around, just me and you, for days or weeks either one will work." 

"I prefer the second one" she says and I can feel her small smile against my bare chest. "weeks alone sounds nice" 

I am still worried about her. I have never seen her as scared as she was when she woke up. I wish she would talk to me and tell me what she saw or heard of felt or whatever happened. I know she will tell me when she is ready but it still makes me worried to know that Kitt did something to her to mess with her mind.
