happy birthday

Pae's POV 

"Kai I want to do something special, we can't stay in bed all day" I say. he pulls me closer 

It's Kai's 21st birthday today. I really want to do something special but all he wants to do is stay in bed. I am only wearing one of his shirts and he is only wearing pants. he is holding me close with my head on his chest and his hand is running up and down my thigh softly. 

"Pae, its my birthday and I want to stay in bed." he says kissing my head. 

I roll my eyes and I get on top of him looking down at him. "Malakai Azer, I do not care if you want to stay in bed all day. It's your birthday you deserve to have something special because you make me feel so special every day, and for once I just want to make you feel special" I say all in one breath. 

"Paedyn darling" Kai says sitting up with me still on his lap. he sits with his back on the headboard of the bed and puts his hands on my 23 weeks pregnant belly. "you make me feel special every day. you are growing our child, I don't need to do anything special for my birthday because you are all I want." 

I sigh and rest my forehead on his shoulder. "but you already have me and I want to get you something new" 

"you are giving me something new" I look at him confused, "you are giving me a child in 4 months, and you make me so happy every day. I find a new thing I love about you every day." he moves his hands from my growing stomach to my cheeks and pulls my mouth to his kissing me softly. "I love you so much" he says resting his forehead on mine 

"I love you too" I whisper back. 

after a few minutes of sitting with him I get out of bed and I pull on some clothes before walking towards the door. "where are you going?" he asks 

"I am going to get you something just wait here" I say before walking out and closing the door. I walk down to the kitchen and when I walk in Gail looks at me and smiles. 

"good you are just the person I was looking for" she says grabbing me a plate and handing it to me. "give this to your husband I know he never wants anything for his birthday.. not after Ava passed... but I still want you to try and give this to him. its a sticky bun and I put a candle in it so it's more of a birthday cake. please give this to him and tell him I said happy birthday" 

I take the plate from her with a smile. "thank you, I was actually going to ask if you had an extra one I could give him so this is great." I start walking out "oh and I will tell him this is from you"

she gives me one last smile before I begin to leave. when I make it back to our room Kai isn't there. I am confused as I look around before I find him in the nursery looking at the small crib we set up a few days ago. 

I set the sticky bun on a small table we have and I walk behind him wrapping my arms around his waist. "I was just laying in bed when I realized that there is going to be a little baby in here. a real life moving, breathing, crying baby" he says and i kiss his shoulder softly "we are going to be parents" he says as if he just heard I was pregnant. 

"I know" I whisper "I can't believe I have to push a human out of me in a few months." 

"I will be there to help you. I'm not going to let you do that by yourself" he turns around and wraps his arms around me kissing my head. "Gail sent you up with a sticky bun didn't she?" he whispers with his lips still on my head 

"how did you know?"

"because she does it every year... and I can smell it" he says with a laugh.
