JUNGKOOK'S POV
The only thing I remembered was her voice—tiny, soft, smooth, and sweet. The kind of voice that could cling to your mind and wreak havoc without effort. It was her voice that haunted me the most when I thought I had erased every trace of her from my life. Now, it was back, slicing through my carefully constructed walls like a blade.
But she was different. Drastically different. She wasn't the girl I remembered five years ago. Gone were the oversized glasses that once perched on her nose, replaced now with sharp, clear contacts. She no longer hid behind her weight either; instead, she stood there in a form-fitting skirt and a white off-the-shoulder top that accentuated every curve. Her hair was swept into a neat, professional bun, exposing the slender line of her neck.
She was beautiful. Inarguably so. Sexy in a way that could tempt the most disciplined of men. But I wasn’t fooled. Not this time. I wasn’t interested in her body, her new looks, or anything that had to do with her. Looks could deceive—she was living proof of that. She looked so innocent, standing there with wide eyes and a timid stance, but there was nothing innocent about her. I had learned that lesson the hard way, and I wouldn’t let her teach it to me again.
Memories I thought I’d buried clawed their way to the surface. She had been the only girl I ever let myself love, and she made me pay dearly for that mistake. The way she had played the part of the sweet, naïve girl so perfectly was nothing short of masterful. But in the end, she was like every other girl—calculating, selfish, deceitful. A devil disguised as an angel. That was the worst kind of woman, the kind that made you believe in love only to tear it apart.
No, I wouldn’t fall for it again. I wouldn’t fall for her again. This was strictly professional now. She was just an employee—a name on a payroll. I didn’t need to look at her any differently, and I definitely didn’t need to let her get under my skin again.
I turned my attention back to Mr. Mark’s file on my desk. He had a major project lined up—a new hotel that required our expertise. Architecture had always been my passion, and taking over my father’s company had felt natural. Beyond that, I’d built my own success with a hotel chain I ran independently, despite the demands of my role at JEON Corporation. I liked the life I had worked hard to create. Everything was efficient, controlled, predictable. Exactly how I wanted it.
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.
“Come in,” I said, my voice sharper than I intended.
She stepped in hesitantly, keeping her eyes firmly on the floor as if looking at me might shatter her. “You called for me, sir?”
Her voice. God, that voice. It was exactly how I remembered it—like a melody that could coax you into forgetting everything except her.
“Yes,” I replied curtly, forcing my thoughts back on track. “I want you to prepare the employees for a meeting with me at three. You and I will also be visiting a project site tomorrow, so I need you here early. And one more thing—plain coffee on my desk every morning. Make sure it’s there before I arrive. Have I made myself clear?”
“Yes, sir,” she said, her tone subdued, almost apologetic.
“Good. You may leave my office now.”
She didn’t waste a second. She turned and left, closing the door behind her without a word.
As soon as she was gone, I let out a slow breath. This was going to be hell. Seeing her every day, hearing her voice, catching her scent as she walked past—it was all a cruel reminder of what she was. A liar. A cheat. A gold digger in the most sophisticated disguise.
I despised her. Every time I looked at her, all I could see was the betrayal. And yet... I couldn’t stop looking. I hated myself for it.

Y/N'S POV
My heart pounded so loudly in my chest I was certain everyone in the room could hear it. Him. After five years, there he was—Jeon Jungkook.
I had worked so hard to move past him, to bury every shred of what we’d been and what we’d become. And yet, seeing him now brought it all rushing back. The pain. The anger. The heartbreak. It hit me like a tidal wave, threatening to pull me under.
He was standing at the front of the room, commanding attention like he always did. His custom-tailored charcoal grey suit fit him perfectly, accentuating his broad shoulders and lean build. His dark hair was swept back, making his sharp jawline even more prominent. He was undeniably handsome—he always had been. But his looks meant nothing to me anymore. All I saw was the man who had shattered my heart without a second thought.
He didn’t even spare me a glance as he called the meeting to order.
“Everybody quiet,” he barked, his deep voice slicing through the murmurs in the room. Silence fell instantly.
“You all must be wondering why I called this meeting,” he began, his tone cold and commanding. “But that doesn’t mean you have the right to chatter like schoolchildren. I demand respect, and I won’t tolerate anything less. If anyone here thinks they can get away with behavior like this again, they’re wrong.”
A few nervous murmurs of “Yes, sir” filled the room, and he nodded in satisfaction.
“I am Jeon Jungkook,” he continued, “the new CEO of JEON Corporation. Some of you may know me, and for those who don’t, let me make one thing clear: I expect excellence. JEON has a reputation for delivering unparalleled results, and I intend to uphold that legacy.”
As he spoke, I felt his gaze sweep over the room, and for a moment, it lingered on me. My stomach churned under the weight of his stare. Did he recognize me? Could he tell I was just as rattled as he was?
“Miss Park,” his voice suddenly boomed, yanking me from my thoughts. All eyes turned to me. My throat went dry.
“Yes, sir?” I managed to croak.
“It seems your mind is far away from this meeting. Perhaps you think what I’m saying isn’t important enough to demand your attention.”
“Not at all, sir,” I replied quickly, my voice steady despite the panic bubbling inside me.
“Good. Then why don’t you tell everyone what I’ve been saying?”
For a brief moment, my mind went blank. But then, I remembered. Word for word. I repeated everything he’d said, my voice unwavering even as my hands trembled at my sides.
To my surprise, he nodded, seemingly impressed. But his expression quickly hardened again. “I expect everyone’s full attention when I’m speaking,” he snapped, before moving on without giving me a second glance.
