The next day, I was packing a light bag to visit my parents. My mom hadn’t been replying to my texts or calls, and I needed to know how they were doing. As I stepped out of my room with my bag and purse, I found Jungkook standing right outside. I had planned to sneak out—he wasn’t even supposed to be home yet.
“And where do you think you’re going?” he asked angrily.
“To visit my parents. Now excuse me,” I replied, trying to walk past him.
“And what’s the fifth rule?” he asked.
I had no idea what the fifth rule was, but considering I was about to leave, I guessed it had to be the prisoner rule.
“I don’t know, and I don’t care,” I snapped, attempting to move past him.
He forcefully pulled me toward him, glaring at me with his infamous look. For a second, I was scared. Why was he this angry?
“Let me refresh your memory—you’re not to leave this house, especially not without me,” he ordered, his tone sharp.
His anger was infuriating. He didn’t own me, so what gave him the right to act like this?
“I can go wherever I want, Jeon!” I shouted, just as angry. “You don’t own me, and I have the right to do as I please.”
“You are going to be my wife, Y/N. I own you in every way possible,” he declared, and his words sent shivers down my spine.
“You don’t! I am my own person, and I don’t belong to you. Get that into your thick skull!” I snapped.
His anger intensified, and now I was genuinely scared. He gripped my wrist so tightly it was bound to leave a bruise. The way he looked at me made my stomach churn.
“Get your hands off me, Jeon,” I said, summoning every ounce of courage I had.
“Don’t make me teach you a lesson we’d both regret,” he warned. “Go back to your room. Now.”
I wanted to cry from sheer frustration, but I wouldn’t beg him—not even if I wanted to.
“And if I don’t?” I challenged, my voice trembling.
He didn’t answer. Instead, he opened the door to my room and threw me inside before locking it.
“Let me out, you bastard!” I yelled, banging on the door. “I’m not your prisoner and shouldn’t be treated like one!”
All I heard in response was the slam of a door.
I was officially doomed.

A week had passed since I tried to visit my parents. I’d attempted to leave when Jungkook wasn’t around, but I couldn’t get past the security. I called my parents multiple times, but they never answered. I could only hope they were okay.
Today was our engagement party. The arrangements had been handled by a top-tier event planner. I wore a long light pink gown, diamond earrings, a necklace, and silver heels. My hair and makeup had been expertly done.
“The guests are waiting,” Jungkook said, appearing suddenly. He wore a tuxedo and looked as handsome as ever. I refused to meet his gaze.
He took my hand and led the way. We entered the grand hall filled with guests, most of whom I didn’t know. I’d invited Rosie, Sean, and a few colleagues I was friendly with. I had invited my mom, but she outright refused to come. My dad was better now, and I wanted to visit him, but Jungkook’s restrictions and my mom banning me from the house made that impossible.
