I don’t think he heard me, or maybe he chose not to because he pulled me onto his lap, wrapping his arms around me. I found comfort in his embrace, but guilt was eating me up.
“I want you to enjoy yourself on this trip, do whatever you want, but please don’t push me away,” he said softly, stroking my hair. “Would you do that for me?” His voice was so soothing, and him speaking so gently was making my heart race. “Would you?” he asked again. I nodded, deciding to try.
“Yes. I’ll do that,” I replied, and he smiled warmly.
“Thank you,” he said before kissing my lips. It wasn’t meant to last long, but it eventually did.
“I love kissing you,” he admitted, still smiling while stroking my hair. I didn’t say anything, just smiled. I wasn’t going to tell him, but I felt the same.
We talked for a while, getting to know each other more, but we stayed away from anything related to the past. I’m sure we both had things to ask and confess, but we were too scared to bring it up, not wanting to ruin what we had. I fell asleep soon after, and he woke me when the plane was about to land. Evie was awake now, and I felt shy about the position Jungkook and I were in.
We got off the plane, and I took in the familiar surroundings. I had a hunch where we were.
“Bienvenue à Paris mon coeur,” he said, smiling, and his accent made it all the more charming. I didn’t understand, but it confirmed my suspicions.
I hugged him. “Thanks for bringing us here,” I said with a smile. “But why Paris again?”
“I know how much you love it here, and we didn’t visit many places on our honeymoon. I want to make it up to you. Give you a proper tour of this beautiful city of love.”
“Thanks,” I replied, hugging him again. It was so thoughtful of him, and it was clear he wanted a place in my life.
“We’re in Paris?” Evie asked, excited.
“Yes,” I answered, just as excited as she was.
“The car’s waiting, Mr. Jeon.”
At the mention of the car, I remembered what Jungkook did the last time we were here, and while revenge seemed sweet, I refrained, respecting what we had. We got into the car and were driven to a mansion that was styled in French fashion, grand and beautiful.
“You bought a house in Paris? It’s beautiful,” I said, admiring it.
“I designed it, and it’s not mine. It’s for you,” he said, handing me the keys.
I was shocked. When I finally recovered, I laughed. Was he serious? He looked hurt when I saw his face, and I stopped laughing. He was serious.
“You don’t like it?” he asked, sounding hurt.
“It’s wonderful, Jungkook. I just… I can’t believe you bought a house for me, especially here in Paris. It doesn’t seem real.”
“It is, mia Bella. I got it for you,” he said softly.
“It’s beautiful, but I can’t accept it,” I said slowly, watching his reaction.
“It’s a gift, Y/N. The house is in your name, whether you accept the keys or not,” he replied. His anger was subtle but not unnoticed.
“Why did you buy it?” I asked, curious.
“I want you to have a house in your favorite country. I told you I’d do whatever it takes to make it up to you, to make you happy.”
It was incredibly thoughtful, but I didn’t need him to do all of this. The way he said it made me feel ungrateful. I should appreciate it, not make him feel bad for offering it.
“Thank you, Jungkook. It’s really kind of you,” I said, smiling.
“You’re welcome, Y/N. Now let me give you a tour of your house,” he said, taking my hand. I heard Evie mutter, “Finally.”
We were settled now. The house was magnificent—there was nothing it lacked. I couldn’t believe he bought it for me. I was happy but also conflicted. Evie and I were in her room, unpacking her things.
“So, he bought the house for you, Mommy?” she asked, squealing in disbelief.
“Yes, he did,” I replied.
“It’s beautiful. Are we going to live here now?” she asked, excited.
“No, Evie,” I answered with a chuckle. “We’re just on vacation.”
“Oh,” she said, disappointed. “What are we going to do?”
“Anything we want. Shopping, sightseeing, etc.”
“That sounds fun. I’m looking forward to it.”
“I am too,” I replied, excited to explore the beautiful city of Paris.
The past few days have been spent sightseeing. We walked down the streets of Paris, visited historical places, and got to know each other better. We’ve spent a lot of time together lately.
“Do you think we can work things out between us?” Jungkook asked, and I looked up at him. He was sitting, and I was lying on his lap.
“I don’t know. I just need some things to be okay. I might forgive you later on, but I don’t think you would,” I said simply. The truth was, I wasn’t sure if he would.
“What did you even do to me that makes you think I’d hate you?”
This was another chance to tell him. “Jungkook, I…” But then Evie barged in.
“Hey, Evie, what’s up?” Jungkook asked.
“I’m tired of playing alone. Let’s go somewhere fun,” she whined.
“Okay. Let’s go change,” he said, and she ran off to her room.
“You wanted to say something,” Jungkook began.
“I just hope you’ll forgive me and that things will be okay between us because I’m slowly forgiving you,” I said quietly.
I don’t think he heard me properly because he was smiling like crazy, as if I had just told him I loved him. I’d hate to see how he’d react when he finds out I kept his daughter from him.
“We’ll get there, Y/N. Whatever it is you think I’d hate you for, I wouldn’t. The worst I can do is be mad at you, but I can never hate you. Never forget that,” he said, kissing my forehead.
This is why I couldn’t help but fall for him the first time. He knew just what to say. I just hope he would never hate me. Lately, I couldn’t shake the feeling of guilt. Maybe it was because my feelings for him were returning. To be honest, I don’t think they ever left.
