JUNGKOOK'S POV

It had been two hours. Two long hours since I saw her. I felt like I was going insane. My mind was racing, my emotions spiraling out of control. The thought of Y/N not being with me was like a weight pressing against my chest. Carlos had her, and the evidence Officer Williams presented pointed at Jess. Could my own brother really betray me like this? He had an alibi—his girlfriend, Mel—but doubts crept in like shadows in the dark. I raked my hands through my hair, letting out a frustrated scream.

"Calm down, bro. You'll see her soon," Jess said, patting my shoulder.

I didn’t know whether to scream again or lash out. Every second without her was agony. I clenched my fists, trying to keep my composure.

"What do you think he wants?" I asked, studying Jess's face for any sign of guilt.

"I don’t know," he shrugged, avoiding my gaze.

His nonchalance infuriated me. I needed answers. “I’ll be right back,” he said before disappearing out of the room. My thoughts spiraled again, aching for her. I missed her so much—her laugh, her touch, her voice.

Just then, Officer Williams entered. "Anything?" I asked desperately. He shook his head and motioned for me to follow him. We headed to my study.

I felt like exploding. My phone buzzed suddenly, the caller ID showing an unknown number. I answered hastily.

"Oh, Jungkook, eager for my call, aren't you?" Carlos's mocking voice made my blood boil.

"Who is it?" Williams mouthed. I replied, "Carlos," and he gestured for me to keep talking.

"What the hell do you want?" I demanded, my voice laced with rage.

"Y/N. She's mine now. I’m just admiring how beautiful she is. You stole her from me; now I’ve stolen her back. You’ll never have her again."

"You bastard! Give my wife back!" I roared.

"Tsk tsk, Jeon. Where’s the fun in that? Here’s the deal: transfer 50% of your shares to me, along with your Vegas hotel. Then I might consider giving her back." He hung up before I could respond.

"He’s out of his mind," I growled, seething with anger.

"What did he say?" Williams asked.

"He wants half the company shares and my Vegas hotel. No guarantee he’ll return her. Can you believe this insanity?"

"Calm down. What are you going to do?" Williams asked.

"I don’t know," I admitted, pacing the room.

"I’m keeping tabs on Jess. The security guard reported seeing someone in his car as he left during the time of the incident. It could’ve been Carlos."

The revelation hit me like a blow. Jess? Could he really betray us like this?

"Do what you have to, Officer. Just get me my wife," I said firmly before heading back to the living room.

Carlos's words replayed in my mind, fueling my anger. Jess walked in casually. "What’s with the long face?" he asked.

"Carlos called," Williams said.

"Oh? What does he want? The company and shares?" Jess replied too quickly. Williams and I exchanged a look.

"How do you know that?" Williams asked, his tone sharp.

"Just guessed," Jess shrugged. My frustration grew.

"So, are you going to give in?" Jess asked, his tone nonchalant.

"How can he give in?" my mother snapped. "What if Carlos doesn’t bring her back?"

"We have to get her back, no matter what," I said firmly.

"Don’t tell me you’re considering this, Jungkook! I won’t allow it!" Mom exclaimed hysterically.

"Mom, he can regain the properties later, but Y/N’s life is irreplaceable," Jess argued. Was he being sincere, or was this part of a ploy?

Tess joined us, concern etched on her face. "Any updates?" she asked.

"None," I admitted, defeated. She hugged me tightly.

"You’ll find her soon, Jungkook," she reassured me softly. I clung to her words.

"How’s Evie?" I asked.

"Sleeping. She kept asking for you and Y/N. I told her you both went out," Tess replied.

"Thank you," I said, grateful for her help.

Jess suddenly stood. "I have to go. Mel’s situation has worsened," he said.

"Go ahead. Send her my regards," I replied. As he left, unease settled in my chest.

"That’s strange," Tess muttered, frowning at her phone.

"What is?" I asked.

"Mel says she’s fine. She also said Jess hasn’t been in touch and didn’t even invite her to the party."

All doubt vanished. Jess had lied. My heart sank.

"He’s involved," Williams said with certainty. Everyone gasped, the truth sinking in.

"But why?" Tess whispered, her voice trembling.

Carlos called again. My heart pounded as I answered.

"So, what’s your decision? The company or your wife?"

"I want my wife back," I growled.

"Tsk tsk. Not happening. She’s mine now. We’re starting a new life together," he said before hanging up.

"What did he say?" Everyone asked simultaneously.

"He’s taking her to start a new life," I spat, fury bubbling over.

Williams received a call, his expression shifting. "Jess led us to a warehouse. We’ve got Carlos, and your wife is safe."
