Y/N'S POV

Evie’s birthday was in a month, and preparations had begun. Jungkook and I were okay now, back at the office, and he was focusing on his business while still making time for us.

We’d just gotten home from work, and I was exhausted. Evie ran to greet us, and Jungkook picked her up, spinning her around. I was grateful for this moment, thankful we were all together.

“Mr. and Mrs. Jeon, dinner is ready,” the chef announced.

“We’ll be down in a few,” he replied.

Jungkook had hired help, knowing I couldn’t handle everything on my own. We went upstairs to freshen up and then came down to eat. After dinner, we discussed Evie’s birthday. She wanted a princess theme, listing magical things she’d seen in cartoons, not realizing they were just fantasies. Jungkook promised he’d make it happen. We talked for a while, then went to bed. Jungkook and I shared a room now. Things between us had been good, with plenty of kisses and makeout sessions. We hadn’t gone further; I wasn’t ready. As we lay in bed, my head on his chest and his arms around my waist, he asked,

“I want to hear how you gave birth to Evie—everything I missed.”

I could see in his eyes that he regretted not being there.

“It’s a long story, Jungkook,” I replied.

“I’ve got all the time in the world,” he said, taking my hand.

“Okay… I went into labor between six and seven in the evening. It was really painful. I didn’t get to the hospital early, and when I did, it got worse. I couldn’t push her out, so I had to have a C-section. I thought I was going to lose her, Jungkook. I thought I was going to lose her. I lost too much blood, and I was unconscious for a while. There were several complications during the pregnancy. The doctor said my womb couldn’t house a baby, that it would be hard for me to get pregnant again, and if I did, I wouldn’t survive it.” My voice trembled as I recalled the events.

“I’m so sorry, Y/N,” he said. I could hear the pain in his voice, and when I looked up, I saw tears in his eyes. “I messed up big time, didn’t I?”

He had, but I wasn’t going to tell him that. Guilt already ate him up, and besides, there was nothing he could have done.

“It’s okay, Jungkook,” I said, and he pulled me into a tight hug.

“How was she like?” he asked.

“Beautiful. She had your hair and eyes, just like I thought she would. It was like she didn’t take after me at all. I was slightly jealous,” I smiled as he chuckled. “There was also the birthmark under her foot.” I smiled, recalling the moment. “She was so tiny, so cute.”

“I would’ve liked to see that,” he said sadly.

“I have an album. I tried to capture all her firsts. I kept them for you.”

“I’d love to see that,” he said with a small smile.

“We’ll have to come out about Evie being ours soon. We have a lot of interviews lined up. Do you think we should do it before or after her birthday?”

“After,” I answered. It’d be better for all of us.

I couldn’t help but imagine the backlash and all the comments people would leave on social media. I just hoped it would go well.

“It’ll be fine, Y/N. Don’t worry,” he said, as I cuddled closer to him.

The next morning, I woke up to a text: “I know about your secret with Jungkook. You can’t fool the world forever.”
