Y/N's POV

During the lunch break, we were still both busy. Jungkook had been getting multiple calls and dealing with contracts, so we barely exchanged any words.

"Don't you think we should take a break?" I suggested, but he didn't even glance up from the papers he was signing.

"We have to finish this today. There's no break," he said curtly. I whined, but he paid me no attention.

Finally, finally, I finished going through and reviewing the files by eight. I was absolutely famished. He hadn't even allowed anyone to order food for us, and I was certain he'd make me cook once we got home. We left the office at nine because Jungkook still had work to wrap up, and I nearly fell asleep in the car on our way back.

"We're going for dinner. Go get ready," Jungkook announced as we climbed the stairs.

"What? Out for dinner? I'm already exhausted, starving, and just want to sleep. Now, you want me to get ready? By the time we prepare and go out, it'll be too late. Let's just order pizza," I said tiredly.

"Go get ready, Park," he repeated firmly before disappearing into his room. I sighed in defeat.

I entered my room, kicked off my shoes, and tried to take off my clothes. However, I was so drained that I lay down on the bed instead.

"For God's sake, open the door, Park!" I heard Jungkook yell, banging on the door.

Oh no. I hadn't even realized when I fell asleep. "Hi," I greeted weakly, opening the door with a small smile.

"Why didn't you open the door earlier? And why aren't you dressed yet?" he demanded angrily, looking me over from head to toe. I shuddered under his intense gaze.

"Don't tell me you fell asleep, Park," he snapped.

"I told you I was too tired," I defended myself.

"Ten minutes, Park," he ordered sharply before walking away. I sighed, dragged myself to the bathroom, and took a quick shower. I grabbed the first thing I saw in my closet-a lacy, short red gown. With no time for elaborate styling, I did minimal makeup, applying red lipstick. I brushed my hair to the side, slipped into red gladiator sandals, and grabbed a small Chanel purse that could only fit my phone.

When I got downstairs, Jungkook was on the phone. The moment he saw me, he froze, his gaze locked on me. He kept staring, his eyes roaming over me again and again. But this wasn't the angry look he had earlier-it was something else. His eyes were darker, and the way he looked at me was undeniably lustful. I found myself glancing at him too. He wore a red-and-black plaid suit, confirming we were headed to a fancy restaurant. He looked unbelievably handsome. If it weren't for his attitude and our rocky past, I wouldn't have minded dating someone like him. His messy brown hair made my fingers itch to rake through it, but I quickly shook the thought away.

"Like what you see, Jeon?" I teased, breaking the silence.

"Nah. I've seen better," he replied with a playful smirk.

"Yeah, right. But none of them compare to me," I countered confidently.

"True," he admitted, smirking again.

"What do you think about the proposal, sir?" The voice on the other end of his call brought him back to reality, reminding him he was still on the phone.

"I'll call you later," he said, hanging up.

"So stunned to see me that you forgot about your call?" I teased again.

He scoffed. "Who told you I did?"

Did he just say he did it on purpose?

The car ride to the restaurant wasn't bad. Jungkook turned on the radio, and the music helped ease the tension. I couldn't stop wondering what had prompted me to act like that earlier. It must have been my exhaustion.

We arrived at an upscale French restaurant. As soon as we stepped out of the car, paparazzi swarmed, snapping pictures. Don't they sleep? It was nearly eleven. Bodyguards appeared quickly to shield us as we entered.

The restaurant was empty, which made me wonder if Jungkook had arranged it. The ambiance was romantic-candles and roses adorned every table. It was obviously for show. We placed our orders, and when the food arrived, I wasted no time digging in. I hadn't eaten all day, thanks to him. The food was superb, and I couldn't help but relish every bite.

As I neared the end of my meal, I noticed Jungkook had barely touched his food.

"Not eating?" I asked. It was meant to be a question, but it came out as a statement.

"It's none of your business, Park," he replied coldly. What was his problem?

"Like I care. But eat something. If people see you losing weight, they'll think I'm not taking care of you."

"And are you?" he shot back angrily.

"Am I supposed to? I'm not a babysitter or a nanny," I retorted. He glared at me.

"Well, you're my wife," he stated.

I scoffed. "Gosh, I hate you so much, Jeon."

"I hate you more, Park," he snarled.

The tension between us didn't ease even as we left the restaurant.

The next morning at work, I asked if I could have a personal office, but Jungkook refused. He muttered something about not trusting me enough for personal space. In other words, he thought I'd sabotage his company. Ironically, if I had any intention of doing that, I could do it better right under his nose.

"We'll visit Mr. Anderson's building tomorrow to check on the work. In the meantime, set up a meeting with the board-"

"Jungkook!" A voice interrupted, squealing as the door burst open. I turned to see a woman I didn't recognize.

How does she know him so casually? She called him Jungkook. I knew she couldn't be just a friend. Jungkook didn't do "friends" with women-he just slept with them.

"Suzy," he greeted with a smile. He was smiling. Who was she?
