Y/N’s POV
Today was a Saturday, and I was so grateful for it. Since I started working with Jungkook over a month ago, I had been waking up early and sleeping late, and it was taking a toll on me. Jungkook and I only talked when necessary. He was extremely professional in the office; no one would guess we even knew each other, let alone that we were married.
I got out of bed and went about my morning routine. I wore a big blue shirt and sweatpants. I loved oversized clothes because they were just so comfy. No pun intended. These clothes felt so much better than the ones I had to wear to work. I had organized a vacation for my parents, and they’d be leaving today. It was my way of thanking them for coming to the wedding and for taking care of me all these years. I knew how much I’d stressed them over the years and how helpful they had been, so I planned a month-long vacation for them at a resort. They deserved some time to themselves without worrying about me or Evie.
I was excited to have Evie with me. I’d finally have someone to talk to in this lonely house. I knocked on Jungkook’s door to ask him what he wanted for breakfast, but there was no reply. So, I headed downstairs to the kitchen to make something for myself.
He walked in shirtless, holding a bottle of water and taking a gulp. His Adam's apple bobbed, and I found myself staring for a moment. It was a good sight, I had to admit.
"Good morning," I said, quickly averting my eyes before he noticed me ogling him.
He raised an eyebrow at me. We barely talked, and he probably guessed I was starting this conversation because I wanted something from him.
"Do you want something, Park?" he asked, setting the bottle on the counter and sitting on a stool across from me.
"Actually, I need a ride to my parents’ house, and I was hoping Evie could stay here since my parents will be on vacation for a while," I explained, trying to sound as persuasive as possible.
"No. No one’s coming to my house, and you’re not going anywhere," he replied, staring me down. He was being plain wicked.
"Please, she won’t be a bother. I’ll make sure of it. You don’t even have to spare a room—we’ll share. Please?" I begged.
"Get me breakfast, Park," he said, dismissing the topic entirely.
I glared at him, giving him my angriest look. Whether he liked it or not, I was bringing her.
"As you wish, your majesty," I said sarcastically, placing the food in front of him.
After breakfast, I went upstairs to get my things. I planned to sneak out. I grabbed my phone and purse, then tiptoed downstairs, only to find Jungkook already there. Busted.
"And where do you think you’re going, Park?" he asked, not even taking his eyes off the TV. I had been so quiet; it must have been the TV that gave me away.
I debated lying, but he already knew.
"I asked you a question, Park," he said, his sharp tone startling me.
"You already know where I’m going," I replied, heading for the door.
"And what did I tell you, Park?" he asked coldly.
"Not to go. But too bad—you don’t control my legs, Jeon."
"But I know how to make you unable to walk for a while, Park," he said, suddenly close to me. His lips brushed against my ear as he spoke, and I felt a familiar tingle. Was it possible to crave someone you hated?
"Run me over with your car, Jeon?" I asked, pretending not to catch his innuendo.
He chuckled but said nothing, walking out the door. I followed him. Was he going to drive me?
"Buckle your seatbelt, Park," he said as we got into the car. I smiled.
"Thank you," I said, though he acted like he didn’t hear me.
We arrived at my parents’ house, and they greeted us with smiles. Evie ran to me, and I hugged her tightly.
"I missed you," we said at the same time, laughing. But her smile faded when she noticed Jungkook.
"What’s he doing here?" she demanded, looking between us.
"Now, Evie, you’ll be a good girl while staying with them, right?" my mom asked—or warned.
"Yes. I’ll be a good girl," Evie promised, hugging my mom.
"Good afternoon, sir. Good afternoon, ma’am," Jungkook greeted, and this time, they responded warmly.
"I hope you’ve been taking good care of my daughter," my dad said sternly.
"Of course, sir. Isn’t that right, mi amour?" Jungkook replied, intertwining our hands and tracing small circles on my palm.
"Yes. Jungkook’s the best," I said with a forced smile. The best at annoying, stressing, and frustrating me.
"Good. Because I’d hate to hear otherwise," my mom said, glaring at him.
I hadn’t expected them to forgive him. I hadn’t, after all.
"You two need to leave now to catch your flight," I reminded them.
"I’ll miss you both," my mom said, hugging Evie and me. Soon, my dad joined in.
"Take care of yourselves, okay?" my mom said, tears glistening in her eyes. Oh, Mom.
I walked her to the porch, where my dad stood waiting. Jungkook and Evie stayed inside.
"There’s no need to cry. You’re going to have fun. We’ll be fine. We can take care of ourselves," I assured her, pulling her into a hug.
"I know. It’s just... Did you tell him?" she asked softly.
"No. I don’t plan to tell him anything," I replied stubbornly.
"Well, nothing stays hidden forever," she said, her words reminding me of the secret I was keeping from everyone. I smiled weakly.
