Y/N’S POV

We didn’t go to work that day. Instead, Jungkook took me shopping. He bought me jewelry, shoes, clothes, perfumes, makeup—everything a girl could want. I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things he bought.

As we walked through the store, people kept staring at us. I could see them whispering, wondering if I was really his fiancée. Jungkook played along, being affectionate, smiling at me, acting like the perfect fiancé while I kept my game face on.

After shopping, we got into his car. “We’re going to live together at my place until the wedding,” he said.

“Okay, so when are we getting married?” I asked.

He didn’t even look at me when he replied. “You heard Jack say it. Less than two months.”

Less than two months. The realization hit me hard.

Once we arrived at his apartment, I was exhausted. Hours of shopping had drained me, and all I wanted was to rest. But Jungkook wasn’t about to let that happen.

He called someone to bring in the bags while I followed him into the house.

Inside, he called in all the staff—seven people in total—and introduced me to them.

“This is Y/N Park,” he said, his hand casually resting on my waist. I forced a smile, trying to play the part.

“She’s my fiancée, and I expect you all to respect her.”

“Yes, sir,” they responded in unison. Some even congratulated me and welcomed me.

Jungkook turned to me then. “I’ll show you to your room. If you need anything, the staff can help.”

“Thanks, but I just want to rest,” I said, already frustrated.

He didn’t seem to care. “You can rest later. We’re having dinner at eight. Be ready.”

“Can’t we just do it tomorrow?” I protested.

“No, dinner is now,” he said, dismissing me. “I’ll be back at 7:45 to take you.”

I let out a deep sigh once he was gone. All I wanted was a moment to myself, but no such luck. I pulled out my phone and saw a bunch of missed calls and texts. My parents and colleagues were likely wondering if the news was true. I responded to most of them, confirming the engagement, but left my mom’s message unanswered. I didn’t want to talk to her with Jungkook still around.

I decided to call her back when I had the chance.

"Hello, Mom," I said when she picked up.

"Y/N, where did you get the money for Dad’s surgery, and why am I hearing that you’re engaged to Jeon Jungkook?" she asked, her voice sharp.

“I’m engaged to him,” I said, feeling guilty. “He gave me the money for Dad’s surgery.”

“You’re engaged to that man?” she nearly shouted. “I’d rather sell the house or take a loan than accept a cent from him.”

“Mom, please don’t. Dad needs the surgery.” I tried to keep my voice steady.

“I can’t believe you. Jeon Jungkook? After everything he’s done to you?”

“It’s in the past,” I said, my heart racing.

“The past?” she seethed. “He ruined your life! Don’t tell me you still love him.”

I froze, my throat tightening. What was I supposed to say? I couldn’t tell her I still loved him, but I couldn’t deny that a part of me hadn’t let go either.

“You still love him, don’t you?” she demanded. “Hasn’t he hurt you enough?”

I felt my tears well up. “I love him, Mom,” I lied. It was the only thing I could say to stop her from getting even more upset.

“Are you out of your mind?” she cried. “What do you love about him? Don’t make me remind you of what he did.”

“I know, Mom,” I whispered, crying. “But I have to let it go.”

“Let it go? With him?” she scoffed. “Break off the engagement, Y/N. Don’t call me until you do.”

“Please understand. I’m doing this for Dad.” I was begging now, but she wasn’t listening.

“Goodnight,” she said, her voice cold before she hung up.

The line went dead, and I sat there, wiping away my tears. I thought I had moved on from everything that happened with Jungkook, but hearing my mom’s anger brought it all back. I had to admit, part of me wasn’t over it.

But I couldn’t go back. The money was already sent, and even if it wasn’t, I couldn’t easily walk away from this engagement. I was doing it for my family, even if they didn’t understand.

After crying for a while, I decided I had to get ready for dinner.

I took a quick shower, and then I put on a sleek black dress. It hugged my curves, ending just below my knees. It was simple but elegant, with a neckline that exposed a little cleavage. I brushed my hair and left it loose, then did my makeup, keeping it subtle. A black choker, silver earrings, and a bracelet completed my look. I slipped on black heels, grabbed a silver purse, and was ready.

At exactly 7:45, Jungkook knocked on the door.

I sighed, walking over to answer it. He looked as handsome as always, wearing a tight black shirt, trousers, and polished shoes. He held a black jacket in one hand, a shiny black watch on his wrist, and his hair was styled perfectly. He looked like he could be in a magazine.

“If you’re done staring at me, we need to leave,” he said coldly.

“I wasn’t staring at you. Just wondering why we’re both wearing black,” I muttered, still frustrated.

He said nothing, walking past me to head downstairs. I followed.

“We need to take a picture together,” Jungkook suddenly said.

He called one of his bodyguards to snap a photo of us standing side by side in front of the car. Jungkook wasn’t satisfied with just that and pulled me closer, wrapping his arm around my waist. We took several more pictures, posing in different ways until he was finally happy with the results.

Once the pictures were done, we got into the car.

“Post the picture on Instagram,” he ordered. “Use hashtags like #RelationshipGoals, #Fiancé, and #Engaged. Tag me, too.”

I opened the app, surprised to see I now had 15k followers. The last time I checked, it was only about a thousand. I quickly followed the Jeon family and posted the picture with the caption he suggested. Within minutes, I had 7k likes and several thousand more followers. The comments, though, were full of hate.

Jungkook was watching me intently, then added, “Don’t come out until I open the door for you.” He stepped out of the car, and I rolled my eyes. Was he seriously trying to play the role of the doting fiancé now?
