Sunday began with exhaustion. Staying late with the girls had left me drained, but Evie's enthusiastic chatter about her day with Jungkook lifted my spirits. She recounted their activities with a bright smile, her excitement evident. Stroking her hair as she drifted off to sleep, I wondered how I'd navigate life without her. Evie was my anchor, my unwavering source of support and motivation. I was beyond lucky to have her.

"Good morning, Mommy!" she greeted with her signature wide grin.

"Morning, sweetie. How was your night?" I asked, matching her smile.

"It was great. Can we go bathe now? I want to meet Jungkook!"

"Jungkook? What business do you have with him?" My tone unintentionally sounded harsher than I intended.

"It's a secret," she teased before dashing to the bathroom.

A secret? She usually shared everything with me, but now she was hiding something because of Jungkook? How wonderful.

We dressed simply for the day-matching white shirts and jean shorts. Passing Jungkook's room, Evie decided waking him up was a splendid idea.

"That's not a good idea, Evie," I warned. His room was a boundary I hadn't crossed before.

"But he's your husband! Why don't you even sleep together?" she asked, her innocent eyes peering at me.

I stared at her, scrambling for an excuse. "You can wake him then," I said, assuming the door was locked. It wasn't.

Evie ran in, and though I hesitated, I followed, wary of Jungkook's reaction. She jumped on his bed, turning it into her personal trampoline.

"Wakey, wakey, Jungkook!" she yelled gleefully.

"Evie, get down now," I said sternly.

"No! Wakey, wakey!" she persisted, her laughter filling the room as Jungkook stirred awake.

"Who's disturbing me at this hour? It's Sunday, for heaven's sake," he grumbled, sitting up to see Evie beaming at him.

"I'm sorry," I began quickly, scooping her up. "She barged in to wake you. It won't happen again."

His gaze shifted between us before he sighed, ruffling his hair in frustration-a move that, annoyingly, looked attractive. Evie's innocent grin broke the tension.

"What did you want so early?" he asked, his voice softening.

"You were sleeping too much. It's ten already," she replied matter-of-factly.

I felt out of place, observing their interaction without knowing how to participate.

"Why don't you two sleep together? Other married people do," she blurted.

"Evie," I warned, my cheeks heating as Jungkook's eyes flicked to mine. Wonderful. Now he'd think I fed her those ideas.

"You don't like her, do you?" she pressed.

"That's enough! Let's make breakfast instead. Aren't you hungry?" I interjected, carrying her away.

Evie looked between us and smirked. "Let's all make breakfast together!"

Jungkook raised a brow, silently questioning if this was my plan. He eventually relented, saying, "I'll get ready. Wait for me downstairs."

Once outside his room, I knelt to Evie's level. "Evie, no more questions about our marriage, okay?"

"But-"

"No buts," I insisted. "Promise?"

Reluctantly, she nodded.

Downstairs, we began preparing breakfast together. Jungkook asked Evie what she wanted, and she rattled off an endless list of dishes.

"I have cartoons to watch!" she announced suddenly, bolting upstairs before either of us could stop her. Left alone with Jungkook, I awkwardly focused on whisking eggs.

"She's a smart one," he said, cracking an egg.

"Yeah, and she left us with a mountain of orders," I joked, earning a rare chuckle from him.

Breakfast passed quietly until he broke the silence. "Were you the one who told her to wake me?"

"No! She wanted to know why we don't sleep together, then decided to take matters into her own hands," I explained, embarrassed.

---

The next morning was unbearable. My period cramps were the worst they'd been in ages. I couldn't even consider leaving my bed. Evie wasn't around to help distract me; she'd gone on a three-day trip with her nanny. She'd been thrilled at the prospect, and I couldn't deny her the chance to mingle with other kids.

"Park, why the hell aren't you ready?" Jungkook's voice boomed as he barged in. His usual impatience morphed into concern when he noticed my state.

"Are you okay?" he asked, softer this time.

"I'm fine," I lied. Admitting I was in pain felt embarrassing.

"Your period?" he guessed, and I nodded hesitantly.

"Do you need anything?" His question startled me, and I shook my head. He lingered before finally leaving.

I tried to get up, but sharp pain forced me to squat near the door, clutching my stomach. Tears pricked my eyes. This was too much. Suddenly, the door opened, revealing Jungkook carrying a tray of food.

"Why are you on the floor?" he asked, alarmed. Setting the tray down, he lifted me effortlessly and placed me on the bed.

"You should eat. Then take some medicine," he said, his tone surprisingly gentle.

"Thank you," I murmured, managing a weak smile.

On the tray were a sandwich, apple juice, and painkillers. His kindness left me speechless. Why was he doing this?

"Want to wash up first?" he asked. I nodded, still in too much pain to speak.

He carried me to the bathroom, set me down, and left. Inside, I noticed he'd prepared a warm bath. The heat soothed my aching body, and I drifted off to sleep.

A knock stirred me awake. "Are you still there, Park?" he called before walking in.

"Why didn't you answer? I thought something happened," he said, worry evident in his voice.

Jungkook? Worried about me?

"You fell asleep in the tub, didn't you?" he teased.

"What do you want, Jungkook?" I asked, irritated.

"Do you need help?" he offered again, and I shook my head.

Instead of leaving, he grabbed the shampoo and started washing my hair. His gentle touch sent shivers down my spine.

"You have a dirty mind, Park," he teased. "If you want me to touch you so badly, just say so."

"You wish!" I retorted, though the tingles he caused told a different story. But nothing would ever happen between us. Not now, not ever.
