He entered before I gave him permission, and Evie smiled when she saw him. Her expression quickly changed to a frown when she noticed his gaze.
"What are you doing here?" she asked rudely.
"I'm here to watch the movie," he answered, sitting on the bed.
"Go away. I don't want you to," she said, pushing him. He just laughed, not moving an inch, not even his hand.
"I'm not going anywhere. I even brought chocolates as a peace offering," he said, handing her a box.
"Mommy said it's not good to take bribes," she replied, smiling, and I chuckled.
"This isn't a bribe. It's a peace offering. There's a difference," he clarified. She looked at me, seeking permission, and I nodded.
"That doesn't mean I like you, though," she said, accepting it.
"Of course," he responded, smirking.
I sat down, and we began watching the movie. Jungkook didn't seem as bored as I thought he would be with a cartoon. When the movie ended, Evie fell asleep, and I tucked her into bed, leaving just Jungkook and me.
"She's a lovely child, although your attitude has rubbed off on her," he said after a moment of silence. I didn't even know why he was still there.
"It's not bad. She's an angel to those she feels deserve kindness," I replied.
"In other words, my attitude is bad?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Bad? That was an understatement. "Obviously. Evie noticed it the moment she met you. She even asked why we're married," I revealed, and he chuckled.
"She's smart and cute," he admitted, and I nodded.
"I know, right."
He looked at me like he wanted to say or do something but changed his mind and stood up. "Good night, Park."
"Good night, Jeon," I replied.
For the first time, we talked a bit. Were we improving? Did I even want that?
The next day at work was hectic. I had been answering calls, emails, and preparing for meetings. There was an issue with the hotel Jungkook was building in Paris, and it seemed likely he would go there to handle it.
"How can you tell me that? We had a deal!" he shouted, slamming the table angrily. "Figure out how to fix it," he ordered harshly.
"I'm going to call in an hour. If it's not resolved, I'll come to Paris, and so help me God when I find you there."
He ended the call and looked at me. It was clear he was about to vent his anger on me.
"Get me coffee," he commanded coldly.
"This would be your third coffee this morning. It's not good for you," I advised.
"Get me the damn coffee. I didn't ask for a doctor or a nutritionist," he snapped.
"Well, I didn't sign up to be your errand girl. You want coffee? Get it yourself," I replied, folding my arms.
He stood up and moved closer, his presence radiating danger.
"You will get me coffee now," he said, his words deliberate.
"I can get you something else, but not coffee," I replied, holding his gaze. He wasn't going to intimidate me.
"I want coffee now, and you'll get it," he said, his head so close to mine that our foreheads touched. His cologne was intoxicating.
Thankfully, the door opened, and Tess walked in. She blushed, likely misinterpreting the situation.
