Y/N's POV

Jungkook and I didn't interact during the week. We didn't even see each other. He left early and came back late, leaving me bored out of my mind with nothing to do. My days now consisted of watching TV or scrolling through gossip about us online. I thought about asking him if I could get a job, but I doubted he'd even bother to answer me.

"We're having breakfast with my mom tomorrow," Jungkook announced, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I turned, surprised to see him home by seven. "Okay," I replied nonchalantly.

"We're also taking pre-wedding photos. You don't have to worry about clothes-they're over there," he said before walking out of the living room.

I sighed as he left, regret washing over me. We weren't even married yet, and I already regretted my decision. I wanted to work so I could pay him back the money I used for my father's surgery and end this deal, but I knew he wouldn't allow it.

A few minutes later, he returned, freshly showered and wearing a white T-shirt and grey sweatpants.

"Is my dinner ready?" he asked.

"No," I answered without emotion.

"Why the hell not?" he shouted, his fiery glare fixed on me.

"Don't shout at me! How was I supposed to know you'd be home early?" I snapped back.

"Just go make dinner," he said, calmer but clearly stressed, as if he were trying to dismiss me.

Ever since he brought me to his house, he fired all his staff. I couldn't help but feel it was deliberate, so I'd be forced to handle everything myself-or to ensure no one would witness how often he yelled at me. After all, our relationship was a sham.

I made my way to the kitchen, feeling sorry for myself. Look at what my life had become.

"And hurry up. I want pasta," he added.

"Why didn't you grab some on your way home? I'm sure you passed plenty of expensive restaurants. Why make me do it?" I asked angrily.

"Because that's what I pay you for. In case you haven't noticed, you're my maid," he said bluntly.

I stayed silent, even though I knew it was true. Instead of being his fake wife, I was just his maid. I made the pasta and served it to him. He didn't even mutter a "thank you." Shaking my head, I headed to my room.

I couldn't imagine living like this for a year, seeing him every day and dealing with the way he treated me. It was unbearable. I hated him so much. The money no longer mattered-my father's surgery had been the only reason I agreed to this, and now I was stuck in this nightmare.

A knock interrupted my thoughts. When I opened the door, there he was.

"Go clear the table and wash the dishes," he ordered. I laughed bitterly.

"What would it have cost you to clear the table yourself? The kitchen's downstairs, yet you thought it'd be better to come all the way up here to bother me?"

"I'm paying you, aren't I?" he replied casually before leaving.

Left with no choice, I went downstairs to clean up and decided to prepare dinner for the next day while I was at it. Jungkook wasn't content with ruining my life before-he was still doing it now. The worst part was that I let him.

I couldn't believe I'd once loved him, thinking he felt the same. It was obvious now that he'd never cared for me. He made me believe I was special, different, only to crush me like everyone else.

After finishing the dishes, I returned to my room. I lay awake for an hour, thinking about my predicament. I wanted nothing more than to end this contract or for the year to pass in a single day.

Then, my phone rang. Hearing the voice on the other end immediately lifted my spirits, and I smiled.

"Hi, baby. How are you?" I asked, my voice light and happy.

"I'm fine. When will you come see me?"

"I don't know, but as soon as I can. I miss you so much," I confessed.

"I miss you too. Promise we'll meet soon?"

"I promise. Goodnight, baby."

"Goodnight."

After the call ended, I felt content. I decided not to dwell on anything that might ruin the moment and instead looked forward to seeing him. With that thought, I finally drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, a loud knock woke me. I got up, knowing exactly who it was.

"Why aren't you dressed yet?" Jungkook barked as soon as I opened the door, his tone full of annoyance.

"You're not even ready for breakfast! I specifically told you-" I slammed the door in his face, cutting off his rant.

Sighing, I got ready, taking my time in the bathroom. I put on a white shirt, jeans, and white sneakers, then brushed my hair before heading downstairs. Jungkook was waiting, fuming.

"How dare you slam the door on me?" he demanded angrily.

"Are we going or not?" I asked, my tone making it clear I didn't care what he had to say.

I was done letting him talk to me however he wanted. He needed me just as much as I needed him.

Without another word, he stormed out to the car, and I followed. The ride was silent, and though I normally hated silence, I welcomed this one.

Y/N: 1. Jungkook: 0. I smirked, satisfied with my small victory.
