Y/N’s POV

He stepped out of the car angrily, and I couldn’t help but wonder how he planned to keep up the act with the way he was behaving. We walked toward the large house before us, and I tried not to show my amazement at how beautiful it was.

“Y/N!” Tess called out excitedly, rushing over to hug me. She was so bubbly.

“Hi, Tess,” I greeted with a smile.

“Where’s Mom?” Jungkook asked, and Tess replied that she was in the garden.

Jungkook grabbed my hand, leading me toward the garden, with Tess trailing behind.

“Hi, Jungkook,” his mom said, hugging him tightly before turning to me with a disgusted look. I scoffed internally.

Like I wanted to be anywhere near her.

“Hi, guys! What took you so long?” Jess asked. “Anyway, now that you’re here, we can call Grandma to head over.”

Jungkook’s mom called him aside, and he had to leave. Jess had gone off with Tess, leaving me alone. I felt so uncomfortable, and Jungkook’s mom glaring at me only made it worse. It was official—she hated me. She didn’t even follow me back on Instagram, not that I cared, but I still wondered why. What did I ever do to make her dislike me so much?

Jungkook walked back toward me with a beautiful blonde by his side. In that moment, I wished he’d marry her instead and leave me alone, but it seemed like his mission was to make my life miserable.

“This is Melissa, your assistant. Melissa, this is my fiancée, Y/N,” Jungkook introduced us. We exchanged polite greetings.

“I should start getting you ready—the glam squad is here,” Melissa said, leading me to a room.

The room was huge, more of a dressing room than anything else. There was a large mirror, a vanity table filled with hair and makeup products, and racks of clothes. The number of outfits was overwhelming, and I silently hoped I wouldn’t have to wear them all.

“You’re here! I’m Katie,” a girl I hadn’t noticed before spoke up. “I’ll be your hairstylist for as long as you need me.”

I gave her a small smile, not knowing what to say. Another girl entered, introducing herself as Trisha, the makeup artist, while Melissa busied herself picking out my outfit.

“I’m so excited to be working with you,” Katie said, beaming.

“You’re making me sound like a celebrity. There’s no need for all this fuss—I’m just like you,” I replied, making Trisha laugh.

“Girl, you’re nothing like us. You’re about to marry Jeon Jungkook! You two are the hot topic right now. So many girls wish they were you or could even get close to you, and here we are, working with you. Do you know how amazing this is?”

I wished I knew. Was it bad that everyone seemed more excited about this wedding than I was?

“I guess I don’t,” I answered.

“You have no idea how popular you’ve gotten, Y/N,” Melissa added.

“Yeah, and it’d mean so much to me if you followed me on Instagram and promoted my work,” Katie said.

“Of course, I’ll follow all of you,” I promised, making them smile. What was it with people and Instagram?

They continued their work while we made small talk. Melissa brought out the first outfit—a stunning white lace gown paired with silver six-inch heels. My hair and makeup were done flawlessly, and the look was completed with diamond earrings, a necklace, and, of course, the diamond engagement ring.

“You look so beautiful!” Katie and Trisha squealed, making me smile.

“It’s all thanks to you guys—I appreciate it,” I said.

“Nonsense, you’re a natural,” Melissa replied, and I smiled again.

“Now, let’s go show you to Jungkook,” Trisha said, taking my hand.

“He’s going to wish you two were alone instead of doing a shoot,” Katie teased, giggling. I laughed. There was no way Jungkook would think that, but she didn’t need to know.

When we arrived, Jungkook was talking to Jess. The moment he saw me, he stopped. This was the moment we secretly checked each other out, pretending not to notice. As much as I hated to admit it, he looked good. He was wearing a black suit with lace embroidery matching my dress and a black bow tie.

“You all did an amazing job—she looks stunning,” he said with a smile. The others smiled back, but I didn’t. His words felt like he was giving credit only to the makeup and styling.

“We’ll leave you two for the shoot,” they said, excusing themselves.

We walked back to the garden, now beautifully decorated with white roses everywhere.

“I’m Santos, your photographer. I’ll start with the couple,” the photographer announced. Everyone stepped aside, leaving just the two of us.

If I were marrying someone I actually liked, I’d be so happy. Instead, this was a fake marriage with someone I despised. Marriage was supposed to be a lifetime commitment to someone you love. Ours was a one-year contract, and we couldn’t stand each other.

Santos instructed us to pose, and Jungkook pulled me to his side—something he often did for show. He placed his hand around my waist, glaring at me even though it probably looked affectionate to others.

“You broke a rule today. You disrespected me,” he said calmly, though I could tell he wanted to yell.

“Disrespect? What would you call how you treat me every day?” I shot back.

“We can’t talk about this here, especially not now,” I added, ending the conversation.

He sighed deeply, a sign that he was trying to let it go.

We took several pictures in different outfits, including one of him kneeling with the ring as I pretended to be surprised. We also took family pictures, and I couldn’t help but feel sad that my parents weren’t there. No one had even asked about them. Wasn’t this supposed to be about two families coming together? Clearly, it wasn’t in this case—it was all about his family.

After hours of fake smiles and countless outfits, my cheeks hurt. I was tired, hungry, and more than ready to be done.

“Let’s have breakfast, familia,” his mom announced, staring pointedly at me. Was I excluded?

Everyone left, leaving just Jungkook and me. Was he going to yell now?

“Are you just going to stand there like a log, or are you coming?” he asked.

“Well, your mom said familia. She was screaming, ‘You’re not included, Y/N,’” I replied.

“Thank God you got the message. You’ll never be part of this family,” he said coldly.

I wasn’t hurt like I thought I’d be. I wasn’t about to let him have the last word.

“Good to know we’re on the same page because I don’t want to be part of your so amazing family,” I shot back.
